Does this make sense?

I own daytradingtips.net and i rank 4th for "day trading tips" on google. And competition is SO steep. Yet I'm making no money? What on earth am I doing wrong?

I am not sure where you are getting the "competition is SO steep." from. I see less than 60K competition in Google. Search volume is less than 3K for the singular variation of your key word for local and the same for global, and the same for the local of the term as you posted it and about 6.5K for global. Decent numbers, but not huge by any means. So based on your position, you should be getting around 6% of the traffic. Globally I would estimate close to 600 visitors per month. But I wouldn't put a hell of a lot of faith in my estimate. Way too many variables to be able to say for sure.

Not only that, but when I checked, you were number 5. So that would drop your take to under 5% of the traffic.

Just a thought, you might want to try to change up the information that Google is showing for your listing. That will influence your clicks a lot as people decide which link to click on. You need to be a bit more enticing, in my opinion.

Jason,

You're there with and without quotes for that keyword.

But here's the deal...the other sites above you are actually content sites that deliver tips when you click on the links.

You have a redirect to a different site where you are selling a product. Generally, keywords that include 'tips' are not very good 'buying' keywords.

A surprise redirect is a 'Back Button Special'.

Perhaps you should rethink your strategy.

When I went to your site, daytradingtips.net, it was immediately redirected to another domain with a sales page.

Sorry to hear that. maybe try to removed the re-direction thing. Maybe the visitors will close your site immediately if they are being re-directed to other pages. Visitors are being pissed off to those site that run "pop ups" or "redirection" thing. they think that your website has a virus. I hope that makes sense..
