It's all different and convoluted now

Back in 1998-'06, before all the 'standards' and marketing companies grew it was pretty easy to 'own' google. In fact, I got top 3 (mostly #1) for everything, every time, without stuffing, et al. just common sense and good form. Now there are social this and that, which bleed the focus out. There's this forum I just found, and others, there's this BS seo scheme and that marketing thing...getting links in is a convoluted mess now.

I whip sites out, and still have a wicked SEO kung-fu, but, as well all know, that takes months - self-perpetuating or not, it's still takes a while.

What are you folks doing to get links in quickly without bleeding out the message or paying some cack to bury you 3 pages deep on a 3 ranked page? I ask because, while I still whip sites out, people are calling me again to do what I used to and it's a whole new game

      The easy to get link that you can place yourself on someone else's website no longer has any SEO value. You need real links from real websites that are relevant to yours.

      No more gaming the system, real links that were editorially placed by solid websites that actually WANT TO link to your site are the only links that matter these days. That usually means building relationships, creating stellar content that other sites will want to link to or paying for them. If you can find a way to get those quickly (or without spending a ton), I'm all ears!

    Even if you have a huge budget and you'd buy all the links, it would still take some time. For a new site, 6 months is the minimum to have some normal ranks on Google.

      That's not true at all. There is no minimum. It entirely depends on your activity and the competition.

        The lesser the competition is more comfortable to rank. Yup.

        Yes, times keep changing. Adapt or Perish. Especially in SEO, its vital to keep adapting or your sites a goner.
