Hi experts,

I have read a number of posts here regarding the web 2.0. But still, haven't found what I was looking for.

Is it a good practice to use web 2.0 sites?

are these sites get indexed?

What after web 2.0?

Thanks in advance

      • Yes, definitely it is a good practice and sees the list of advantages you will get while performing web 2.0 activity.

        1. Create your brand awareness.
        2. Generating traffic back to your primary website.
        3. Build thousands of quality backlinks to your primary website.

Yes, these sites get indexed in the search engine, some black hat SEO analysts pay people to build multiple accounts on various web 2.0 sites. These accounts are used to post bulk content stuffed with keywords. These pages are then linked to their website, thus creating link juice, which increases the site's ranking. The quality of those sites is very low, and search engines are now smart enough to analyze their spamming activity to get rankings to penalize sites which rely on them.

All you have to do is choose some reliable web 2.0 sites. Then, create your profile by filling complete relevant details and publish engaging, factual and informative content that will add value to the communities of these sites.

So many people who do not understand SEO giving SEO advice! Tsk, tsk, tsk!

Web 2.0 or not is not what matters. Page with or without power is what matters. A page with no backlinks of its own has little SEO value, regardless on what type of site it is on.

All above the above except for the last generic "link building" one (including web2.0 properties) are a total waste of time for SEO (which is different than "traffic").

If you can place the link, yourself, on some other entity's site, it holds little or no value for SEO. Search engines are much smarter than they were a decade ago. A ton of people on this forum are parrots who repeat things they have heard, so you get the same bogus information over and over again from people who have never ranked anything for a even a mildly competitive phrase (but they're still trying and happy to give advice).

Check out Brian Dean's Backlinko blog or his Guide to SEO if you want to know how to build real links that will help you rank better.

Backlinking from web 2.0 sites can be a great idea, we have to start at the beginning, and tackle all of this web 2.0 and backlinking business form the root.
You need to check those things for Web 2.0 :
    You Control Your Links
Backlinking from Web 2.0 blogs is smart because you will own the backlinks you create, and have complete control over the domains that provide them in perpetuity.

You Can Get As Many Links You Want
Getting links from Web 2.0 blogs is an way that is only limited by the time that you are able to invest. Every backlink your money site receives will add a small boost of visibility, and you can create as many Web 2.0 blog sites as you want, as there are hundreds of web 2.0 sites available.

Making Realistic Looking Web 2.0 Blogs

Use Standard Theme [Blog Style Theme Preferred]

    Publish Only Original Contents

Link To Authority Sites, Not Only Your Niche Site

    Placing Backlinks Naturally

Use Separate Emails For Web 2.0
DON'T use the same email address to create your Web 2.0 sites that were used to verify your Google Analytics and Webmaster account. Don't even use the money site email address as recovery email whenever you create a new email address for Web 2.0.

Save Login Details In An Excel File

    Ensure All The On-Page Settings
    1. Use keyword in title
    2. Use keyword in permalink
    3. Use keyword in first paragraph
    4. Maintain a 0.3% to 1% keyword density in content
    5. Use keyword as image alt tag
    6. Link to high quality related link links [at least 1 outbound link]
    7. Social button/share if the option is available
    8. Strong internal linking within the posts

    Design Contact

Make Sure The Links Are Indexed

This is the BEST part of the whole thread right here!

uh dude, you do realize that the likes of google is looking at your hardware mac address? Who cares about e-mails... you would have to have a separate computer for each of your web 2.0 properties.

oh wait... they will know your modem and router mac addresses as well... so you will need a separate computer and a separate internet connection for each 2.0 property...

oh wait... google keeps track of geo locations too... dang... so you will need a separate computer with a separate internet connection in different houses across your community for each of your web 2.0 properties.

You are playing a childish game in a technological adult world.. and spending time on something that doesn't really work... just ONE actual backlink is worth more than 20 web 2.0 links that have no traffic and no value.

Me personally... I would rather spend my time tracking down that 1 link than trying to write content and keep up with 20 web 2.0 properties.

Based on what? A handful of people, many of which have not existed on the forum for all that long, who claim that they work, but don't use their real names or provide any proof at all of them working?

Really, you need to put yourself in Google's shoes? Why do you think they have backlinks as part of their algorithm? Backlinks act as "votes" from other, independent websites that the linked-to site is worth visiting. A completely unrelated entity is endorsing another website, which is a pretty powerful thing to so - sending them away from their own site to check another site out.

If you were building an algorithm that relied in part on those "votes", would you count ones that people could manipulate like this, putting links to their own sites for free? I doubt it! Penguin was introduced 7 years ago to combat this kind of fake link and their algorithm has improved every year since then. Waste your time if you like, but I'd devote my energies toward EARNING real links from real websites, myself.

We build branded Medium pages and take advantage of the platform automatically adding a canonical tag to the post when you copy/paste a URL from your blog as a new post.

It takes all of 5 minutes to syndicate your site content onto Medium, so I think there is some value there. We aren't doing this for SEO though as I never see any significant changes when we add 2-3 articles in a given week.

The only real gain comes from getting your articles in front of a bigger audience (referral traffic) and also by helping to maintain link diversity. If you're doing this sort of thing expecting it to have a dramatic effect on rank, you're going to be dissapointed.

Rare links boost rank. Find the most difficult to obtain links that are niche relevant if you want to see SEO gains.

Web 2.0 sites are still good backlink sources. You should focus on creating links that are dofollow, contextual (surrounded by text related to your site, relevant, on sites with high DA (domain authority).

You sell backlinks so you would say that, but tell the whole story, tell people that, to be good, they have to cone from pages that have good links of their own, that a link from a new page in a site with authority does little unless there are internal links from pages on that sute that have good links.

Web 2.0 link building has much to do about filling out your profile in web 2.0 websites - especially the 'links' and/or 'websites' part. Here are some of the sites where you can build your profile/brand.
After creating site profiles in these web 2.0 sites, you don't stop there. You have to link out to them from a website you own with a good, consistent crawl rate - so that these webpages will be indexed and considered by the search engines.
