It is a waste of time, not a strategy.

Do not worry about keyword density, don't even think about it.

A friend was trying this out before. The whole ratio would really depend on why would you want to rank the keyword and understand the traffic level of it. Not all KGR keywords will get you to the top spots.

It does seem to give you a good indication of how easily you could rank for a particular term. If you're in the local SEO space though, I wouldn't even bother.

Instead, we just find local upcoming events that we think our target audience would like to attend. If there's 1-2 Facebook pages ranking on page 1 for the event term, we know we can usually rank with little effort.

We write a 500 word article with the event name in our meta title and URL. If we're working on a domain with any authority, our articles usually rank and start getting local traffic within 48 hours. It may be 20-50 visitors a month, but it's mostly local IPs and a 500 word article costs very little to publish.

Add a banner image offer or some other CTA towards the bottom of the page that links internally to one of your service or product pages for good measure. I'm not sure if we ever convert any of that, but the point of this is really just to get local traffic on the site while generating local brand awareness for our clients.

    Thanks, Guys

I am really none the wiser. There seems lots of evidence ( or should I say videos) that KGR works. It would seem with the few responses you guys are not convinced. My requirement is to get traffic to the site only, not necessarily to monetise the site through say amazon.

Focus on the UX of your website for user interactions to your content. Optimize for the click, start with easy to rank keywords and get people to click something on your page, clickstream technology sees this and so does Google.

What I am seeing in the SERPs is when you are relevant and getting the click is one of the signals of relevancy these days you start getting more exposure by Google for other keywords. Your traffic will increase because of more exposure.

If you are not getting user interactions to your website don't expect to see traffic from the SERPs. Start with easy to rank keywords and optimize for the click.

My observations is I am seeing tiny websites out ranking large websites/brands because of this concept.

Check it out yourself it is easy to see.

Hi Sparrow - this strategy seems to make sense is pretty straightforward. Have you tried it? What do you mean by "optimize for the click"?

Is this not the same as KGR? Starting with easy to rank keywords?

That might have worked prior to Rankbrain... but not anymore.

Rankbrain is all about CONTEXT and USER EXPERIENCE

Focus on writing long form, rich, engaging content and RB will take care of you.

    Full stop.

I'd agree if we were talking about high competition keywords that require a lot of SEO work, but the original question was about KGR and the whole point of KGR is to NOT go after high competition phrases.

It works and the strategy I suggested in an earlier response for local search works well also without the need for massive 2,000+ word posts. We rank 400 word articles on page 1 within 48 hours for our clients using this and they have people walk into the storefront telling the owners that they read our article about the pumpkin festival or whatever we're writing on in a given month.
