How To Avoid The Google Dance.
- SEO |
Here's how I beat the Google "dance" most of the time.
First you have to see things from Google's point of view. They apparently, to get the best user experience, want a very rich site.
A site full of content that the user can explore.
Before even getting one backlink you should have at least ten articles on your site - at the minimum.
Once you've done that the first thing you should do is get some proper social bookmarking done. Don't be cheap and get 1,000 for $1. Pay $20, $30, even $40 for some quality SB'ing to be done by hand.
This surge in links will raise you to a high level - this is the beginning stage of what's being referred to as "the dance". (Now for most people this is the peak of their journey, Google than starts shuffling their site and eventually it falls far down the listings.)
...What we want to do is keep our site there. We want it to stay there and use that position as a starting point from which we can get to #1.
Once you reach this high point, whether it be #6 or #87, you can't waste much time.
...When you leave your site that's when it'll get moved around.
At this point you need to be aggressive in your endeavors. Show Google this site is worth something and not just a flash in the pan.
Put at least 3 or so quality articles on it per day for around a few weeks. (Get them social bookmarked to if you really want to be ballin'...)
The time you'll need to do this for, and the amount of articles you need to do this for, varies according to the competition you have. For "****" you'd want to have XX-XXX articles added daily - but for the keyword "is the **** berry any good" you'd only need one or two daily.
Along with your content being added you want to have a link wheel made. Since your site is new, and so is the domain most likely, don't go all out.
Outsource, or do yourself, around a 10 piece link wheel. (Again according to your keyword you might want to raise that a bit.)
Start SB'ing and building links to your different web 2.0 properties that make up your link wheel so they are strong and, again, aren't just a flash in the pan.
See what we did there?
You now not only have links to your site from the different social bookmarks but you also have 10+ high quality links from your link wheel - don't ever think quantity beats quality.
But that's not the "cool" part...
...If your going after a low-medium competition keyword your Web 2.0 properties, for the time being, will out rank your own main "money" site!
Chances are you may see your Web 2.0 properties on the first page bringing your money site much needed traffic. (And hopefully a little money to help you on your journey on the way up.)
So even if your site did start to see the Google dance it wouldn't really matter as much because you'd still be getting traffic and maybe a little money from your well ranking web 2.0 properties.
(Because of the great links you now have you shouldn't suffer massive fluctuations anyway though.)
I won't get into how to than make your website reach #1. But this should keep your site stable.
You should now have steady footing and you now should be able to go forward without the fear of going backwards. You've now, hopefully, beaten the Google dance.

*Disclaimer: Does this work all the time? Almost every time for me. But I also have people I trust, and whom i've used for a long time now, who do all the work for me. You may, unfortunately, pick the wrong people and get less quality work done thus affecting the outcome. |
...it goes without saying that if your targeting a low competition keyword that gets 1,000 searches a month this would not be very cost effective.
But for those targeting keywords where the Google dance costs them time and money than this will certainly help.
Hope this has helped,
Zach
P.S - I love the forum and all but I don't love spending over half an hour answering PM's like I did a few days ago. (I don't know how some of you do it..)
So if you have any questions about what I talked about, although I think I covered everything you need to know, than ask here and maybe another member can help ya out.
