My site disappeared from Google results...(Please help!)

Hello there,

i'm running the business site https://episkeyh-oikiakon-syskeyon.com/ (country targeted) for years now and was going quite good with many keywords on first results in Google, until recently...a month ago the performance and hits started to drop dramatically and today they have fallen to zero.

Thinking back the only change i've made the last period after yoast's plugin recommendation, is that i changed the permalinks from https://episkeyh-oikiakon-syskeyon.com/?p=123 to https://episkeyh-oikiakon-syskeyon.c...y%/%postname%/.

Also, when i'm trying to inspect any URL inside Google Search Console i get the message that "The URL is available on Google, but has issues".

Is this change capable of causing this problem and how can restore my site?

    Changing the permalink structure means old pages are non-existent for Google.


    The new URLs are not exactly pretty, though the permalink structure in use is supposedly for pretty URLs.


    Eg:
    https :// episkeyh-oikiakon-syskeyon.com/%ce%b5%cf%80%ce%b9%cf%83%ce%ba%ce%b5%cf%85%ce%ae-%cf%86%ce%bf%cf%8d%cf%81%ce%bd%ce%bf%cf%85-%ce%ba%ce%bf%cf%85%ce%b6%ce%af%ce%bd%ce%b1%cf%82-electrolux/


    Also, canonical URL is not full.
    Eg:
    <link rel="canonical" href="/%ce%b5%cf%80%ce%b9%cf%83%ce%ba%ce%b5%cf%85%ce%ae-%cf%86%ce%bf%cf%8d%cf%81%ce%bd%ce%bf%cf%85-%ce%ba%ce%bf%cf%85%ce%b6%ce%af%ce%bd%ce%b1%cf%82-electrolux/">
    1. Since you have already hit rock bottom, you can revert to your old structure or work from scratch.
    2. My suggestion would be to use English (Roman) for URL slugs. Keep your slugs short and simple.
    3. Make categories and tags (including archives) as no-index. There are tonnes of it and no longer benefitial. Used to bring traffic earlier.
    4. Organize your website and the sidebar. Too many links on each page.

    Don't ever follow Yoast's recommendations. It's a flaming piece of shit.

    What you did was completely change your internal link structure and you lost any external links that were pointing to those old pages. You need to put in 301 redirects of all your old URLs pointing to their corresponding new URLs.

    Changing your internal link structure screwed you up. If you upgrade to Yoast SEO Premium, it comes with a redirect feature. It's a tool, though; you can't get your SEO intelligence from it.
