Microsoft search revenue growth slows down

Microsoft just released its earnings for Q4 2019, and of note is Bing's continuous slow down.

Growth for the quarter's search advertising dropped to 6%, despite Microsoft's effort to market Bing as a Google alternative. This could be attributed to the older Chakra-powered Edge browser, which has a usage share of about 6% (NetMarketShare, Nov 2019).

Are you using Bing instead of Google as your default search engine?

  • I personally only use google when searching online for information.

Bing usually is the furthest thing from my mind when doing a search.

I'm sure bing would take it but their market share is nosediving.
Are you happy to take that?

No, but I also have to wonder why I should care.

No, but I advertise on Bing and not Google. Google treats advertisers like dirt and Bing treats them like the paying customers they are.

I think google has an upper edge and it may not be easy for Microsoft to penetrate the market.Unless they find a way they can link bing to Microsoft office.
