Blog post urls not ranking in Google, only main homepage url ranks

Let's take it that I have a website with link https://example.com. I make blog posts and the URLs are

When I google for my target keywords (product abc, product 123 & product xyz) for these posts, the blog posts URL don't show up but my main url https://example.com shows on Google.

My sitemap is working perfectly and the site is also indexed by Google. I don't understand why blog posts urls aren't ranking on Google for the target keywords, but it's the home[age that hasn't been optimized for those target keywords getting its url to show up on Google.

They do not have backlinks. Your main page does. You want the blog posts to rank, get them backlinks.

You can rank all your page on google, but it would be not beneficial for your seo. You have to decide the target page for best response.

You might not optimize your page for the targeted keywords but it is automatically optimized for those products name as they are sub-pages/posts of the main website. Apart from that, your website might have some quality links from those targeted keywords to your home page. So, if you want to rank your blog post, optimize it properly and get some quality backlinks from authority websites. That will bring your post to rank on Google for it's targeted keywords.

It seems for other pages you don't have enough high-quality backlinks If the web pages ranking above you have way more backlinks, then this could be part of the reason you blog other Url not showing up in Google. So keep working on quality backlinks with the targeted keywords

There can be several reasons why only your website's home page is ranking and not the Blog posts URL. Here are a few reasons -

    • Your blog page is using a subdomain and not a subdirectory structure. The URL for subdomain structures are like www.blog.website.com whereas the URL for subdirectory structure is "www.website.com/blog". In the first case, ranking is affected because Google considers it as a different domain. Whereas, in the second case, the trust and ranking metrics are passed to the same subdomain.
    • Few internal links can be a potential cause of why your blogs aren't ranking on Google.
    • In case the blog title isn't there in the H1 tag or it is missing H2, H3 tags and other important blogging norms.
    • If the blogs page doesn't follow significant SEO norms (length of blog posts, readability, target keywords, etc.), it can affect the ranking of the page.
    • Poorly designed blogs are less likely to perform well in Google's ranking algorithm.
    • Backlinks are an important factor which affects Google ranking of every page. So, if your website's homepage is receiving all the traffic instead of Blogs or pother pages, it is time to check the backlinks you have created. You can always create more backlinks for the target page URL, which is Blogs in this case.

Keeping these factors in mind will help you in getting your blogs page ranked high in Google's search result.

You may be using very competitive keywords. That may explain why you're not ranking for your blog posts.

Use ahrefs.com to search for low competition keywords.

Your blog posts urls aren't ranking on Google for any of your targeted keywords because backlinks have not yet been built to those URLs. Once you start building dofollow backlinks to those URLs, you should see them beginning to rank as well. For best results, make sure to optimize those pages (on page) for your targeted keywords.

Definitely sounds like you need more internal links to the blogs. One of our clients sites failed to rank properly due to a lack of internal backlinks.

In certain cases you'll want closed silos (aka pages with no internal backlinks referring to it), your main site content should supported by your blog posts.

Hi! I recommend you start building internal links (links between posts on your site). You also need links from the outside, external links. Now in 2020, Google and other search engines look more at the content itself, not how many links are pointing to the URL.

Still, my recommendation is that you make a few YouTube videos and link from the videos back to your site. When it comes to link building, quality is the key, not quantity.

    Hope this helps.

You need to check many things here, how old is your website, does your site has any backlinks and as others said internal link building are some the key aspects.

Type in site:https://example.com in Google. Has Google indexed these blog post pages? (don't forget to replace example.com with your website URL)
