Is It Time to Give U?

My website of 9 months is ranking for just one keyword and gets 20-50 daily visits.

I make use of Google keyword planner to search out low competition, high volume keywords, but thus doesn't seem to be working.

I also make use of Rank Math seo plugin and try to ensure the posts are seo-optimized. I have tried building backlinks by guest posting and forum commenting.

I make use of alt tag and ensure the keyword I am trying to rank for is used as the alt tag.

I try to use at least three high resolution pictures all named with my focus keyword.

Nothing seems to be working and I'm at a point where I just want to call it a day.

I have given it my all and maybe I should accept at this juncture that blogging is not for me.

    Blogging might be for you. Why are you basing that decision on the actions you listed?

    You need to market your site.

    SEO is one way, and you are not doing it all.

    First, do you have a way on your blog to collect visitors' email addresses? And do you contact them now and again inviting them to come back? With an offer?

    There are many platforms out there to advertise your blog, from Google ads to FaceBook ads to sharing posts on Reddit. If you cannot pay, do the free way, participate and every now and again post a link to one of your posts.

    But without collecting emails, you will have a hard time.

    What you have done so far us the equivalent of a book store business renting a space, buying the furniture and 3 cases of beer (yeah, beer; book store people deserve to stay hydrated too) and wandering why there are no sales. Then changing the logo and the sign above the door and deciding selling books is not for them.

    By the way, you are getting 50 visitors a day. Do what you have done to get the 50 one more time and you will get 100; 10 more times and you will get 500.

      To the Original poster if that is the site you are referring to in your signature, take DABK's advice you are letting viewers leave your site and not come back.

      Also the site should be niche down more IMHO.

        Yes Dwolf is right about being even more niche.

        It's too broad at the moment; you have: Health, Beauty, Family, News, Features, Make Money, Food, and Shop. Your motto is 'all a woman needs' and the name is 'women all around'.

        Trying to appeal to everything that a woman wants/needs is a very difficult thing to do for big brands, let alone a one woman show like I presume you are. You have taken on a monumental task that not even some of the biggest female targeted brands out there are doing (cosmo, lululemon, chanel, l'oreal, michael kors, etc.) they all have hundreds of employees doing lots of customer outreach every day and even they don't target *everything* a woman needs!

        What's happening to your audience is they are attracted to some content on your blog and after they've read it they want more similar content, but they can't find it, meaning they exit out of your blog and don't come back because they know (or think they know) you don't have what they are looking for.

        For example, just looking at your most recent articles, you have some posts about pregnancy interspersed with 'what to do with overripe bananas' and 'how to cook bolognese'. As a reader, i don't really know if your blog is a cooking/recipe blog or if it is about pregnant women.

        Ideally for a blog, you want to be known as the voice of authority in a topic, and it is impossible to be an authority of everything - there is no person out there in the world who is an expert in *everything* related to women.

        I'd recommend doing a little bit of research into picking a niche.

        Since you already have a good amount of content on your blog, if I were you I'd just choose one of the categories you have already written about - choose the one you like the most, have the most content for, the one that's most easily monetisable, or the one that drives the most traffic, or make up your own criteria for which niche you want to choose - but be specific and make sure about 80% of your blog's content is related to that - with the other 20% let people know a little about yourself - this lets them know that you are a real person and personally invested in bringing them good information, this will ensure more loyalty to your blog.

        The takeaway is that you should never give up, while it may seem like something is failing it is usually just a case of switching up the strategy a little bit and seeing if that works and constantly testing to find out which formula works best with you.

      I once fixed it so I could collect emails (using mailchimp) and for months not even a single visitor subscribed. It was discouraging.


      I didn't really deactivate the button, but I guess it must no longer be active. I'll look into why this is so.

    The Google Keyword Planner competition metric has absolutely nothing to do with how hard or easy it is to rank a keyword.

    Hello Godmother!

    You are the only person who can determine whether it is time
    to give up on your internet marketing efforts, but if I were you
    then I would continue to hang in there and keep working at it
    until you figure out how to make money online. If you just feel
    lost and don't know what to do please read a couple of books
    or watch videos on passive income and internet marketing in
    general to get some good ideas on improving your situation.

    I am going to give you some helpful advice that is intended to
    help you, not hurt your feelings. I know that it is difficult to be
    told what is wrong with your site that you have spent so much
    time and effort on. Your blog is nice but the main problem I see
    with your blog and why it is not working is because it has way
    too many unrelated topics. If you want to teach people how to
    cook, then setup a site just for cooking and put some videos,
    recipes and anything that relates to that. If you want to teach on
    doing business, then focus on that. Do not have fifteen different
    things going on with your blog, it usually does not work. It can
    work for Martha Stewart but not for an unknown person with no
    major following. If you want to have fifteen topics going on then
    you should setup fifteen separate sites. That way you will get
    more traffic and you can monetize your site so much better.

    Now that you have defined what is not working.. what can you do to change it? I would suggest low competition low volume terms. Look around this forum.. every one suggest "low competition, high volume keywords" It doesn't work when you are first starting - its that simple. Aim lower, get some traction and progress from there.

    In a matter of 3 or 4 posts to lower volume terms you could double your traffic.

    9 months and your ready to call it quites? Ever heard of Shopify? they became the in thing in what 2015 or maybe later? you do realize they started in 2004?

    At this point your all in... or you could start all over and be in the same place with a new website in 9 months... and quit that too. Stick with it.. and pump content - you'll get there - just not tomorrow. Own THAT.. have patience and work through it.

    Hi, I think you should not give up that easily. You should give it another chance. Hire an SEO expert to move the blog forward. They will have it done within 3 months.

    You plan to give up on blogging or all your online marketing career if this its tru you give up on your dream and you will work all your life to a 9 .5 job .I have many years of fighting and i still dont succed and i will never give up no matter what .Beacuse if i stay online why to loose my time on social media whn i can create some content and i can earn money .Think about that

    I want to say a big thank you to everyone who has taken the time to analyze my site and offer helpful tips to my issue.

    I have been so frustrated I left the site all these while. However, I'm ready to go back to it and carry out everything necessary to make it work and that also has includes niching down.

    I'm thing of taking out the health posts, even if they make the bulk of my site's content as I recently learnt of E.A.T which is making my health articles rank.

    I'll like stick to relationship and career advice for women.

    I'll all look into reactivating my mailchimp so I can collect email addresses.

    Instead of giving up, why don't you change your strategies a bit? For example, use Yoast SEO to optimize your content instead of Rankmath. Use Ubersuggest, Keywords Everywhere, and other similar tools to perform keyword research instead of just Keyword Planner. Also, SEO demands consistency and shows slow but profitable results, so hang in there, keep making content and implement both On-page and Off-page SEO techniques efficiently.
