Hello people!

So my site, does far better in seo checks and speedtests, yet we get out ranked by competitors.
Theres a new site that has suddenly come up and doing very well, and another has been on top for ages now.

We recently witnessed a tank in ranking for key words such as "Raw Indian Hair Vendors"

What could the competition be doing that we are not?

We seem to have better in bound links, better domain authority, better content, better speed load times, alt-tagged images, links on pages... yet, we

Patient is key factor that works for you. Jus post content "informative content " that wins in getting attraction of visitors. May be bounce rate of site occurs .Check it and avail easy navigation for user.

I think they have better quality backlinks and eye-catching content than your site.
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[11628550].message }}
  • That's the thing - they don't have better content or better quality links. And I do faaaar better on speedtest scores as well as other seo factors.

Page speed is a very, very, very minor ranking factor at best. It's nearly irrelevant.

Domain authority is not used by any search engine on the planet.

What makes you think you have better inbound links? How are you evaluating that?

Better content is very subjective. You are inherently biased to your own content. Everyone is. I cannot count how many times someone has posted here saying their content is better than their competitors, but when I see it I think their content is worse. Sometimes much worse.

    The logical conclusions:
you are not doing better in 'seo checks'
    or
whatever you use to check is not accurate (complete).

In any case, your SEO is not as good as theirs.
Without knowing what you're doing, it is not possible to even begin to tell you what you're not doing that you should be doing.

So, what are you doing, seo-wise?

    • Hello,

      Thank you for your reply!!

      For Seo Tests:
      On Seo tester online,
      my site ranks 79/100
The competitor, Indian Hair Giant ranks 41.7/100

      On Seo Site Check up,
mine 97, Indian Hair Giant 57

      On Neil Patel
On Page Seo for ours is 63, theirs 50

      SEO wise,
I have put in the 2 main keywords in Title Tag "Raw Indian Hair Vendors in India" "Wholesale Hair Vendors in India"

Have got that phrase in H1 tag

"Your search for Reliable Wholesale Raw Indian Hair Vendors in India ends here."

Have got "raw Indian Hair Vendors in h2 tag

Have written content with Raw Indian Hair Vendors with 3.43%

      Have alt tagged images

have a href tags on main page

      Have XML site map

      Have google search console

Have a mobile page load score of 65 on Google Page speed, vs competitor score of 3

      Have minified css html

Have higher domain authority than competitors, more back links - I dont think any are being considered spam

Our content IS better than theirs, gives more information, is better written.

What am I missing and what are they doing right??

Quote whoever you're responding to: it makes it easier to respond back to you.

Most of what you listed has little to no effect on SEO.

You having better quality content is not relevant.

You have either fewer backlinks or fewer quality backlinks.

Spammy links and non-spammy links is not the only difference when it come to backlinks.

Links from a page that's got a lot of good backlinks of its own carry a lot more juice than links from pages that have some backlinks and the latter carry more juice than links coming from a page that's got no links of its own. The DA, PA and spam score are not relevant.

A backlink from a page with 125 good backlinks carries the same juice as 625 pages with 5 good backlinks. A link from a page with 5 good links carries as much juice as 5 links from pages with 1 link or 25 pages with 0 backlinks... Roughly, if memory serves.

So, if they have 5 links with 125 backlinks each, they can outrank you if you have thousands of non-spammy 0 backlink from pages with no backlinks of their own.

I have checked their backlinks using Link Tracker from SEO PowerSuite and couldn't find any links with weight - they have the usual directory listings and forum postings like this - Find the best Raw Indian Hair Vendor

Is there another way I can check their back links to find if and where good quality ones are coming from?

Also, if I may ask - are you implying that quality back links are King, even more so than on page content?

Thanks again for your reply and time!

Ok this really makes sense now. I did a bit of a dig. Some Links hidden in archer texts on Indian Hair Giant were pointing to another vendor who was previously doing well on SEO, and who has been out there for a while - who has also got some very bad reviews piled up. Initially I thought Indian Hair Giant was linking to them to gain some out bound weight with a domain link that does/was doing well for relevant keywords.

Now, upon inspecting Indian Mermaid Hairs site, they have over 10 links with anchor links pointing to Indian Hair Giant.

So this means these guys have started a new brand to continue to cheat customers and have used their domain authority for link weightage for this new site/brand.

Very unethical, and cheap - but hey, that's how many work in this world!

Any suggestions please how I can ethically .. out rank them?

            • I just purchased rawindianhairvendors.com and indianhairvendors.com

Do you think migrating site to either of those will help?

              Get more and/or better backlinks.

I am not implying. I am saying: backlinks are more important than content when it comes to SEO. Content is useful to get people to buy from you or recommend you.

When on your home page when you scroll down below the Map. You see 3 columns with 15 words each. What's the purpose of that ? You click it. It takes you back to the top of the page. But in the center below that it says read mead in small blue text. Right above the word contact in Red.

Our competitors are doing that and I copied it. They seem to be using it to stuff key words, but are getting rewarded.

So you have done a detailed analysis of your competitors correct ? Did you do a detailed analysis of your site and there was nothing found that needed to be tweaked.

The quality of your content might not be as good as your competitors or could be your hosting. Or it could be the traffic you are getting is not interested in your content.I would advise you to run another site test and see what needs to be tweaked. You might also need to edit your content and make a few upgrades .Build measure and learn

There is no such a thing as "out ranked" in Internet's World of eat or be eaten
but there is something I would call being circumvented, outsmarted etc.
by your competition. So, start looking at how they have managed to left you behind.
