Microsoft announced that Clarity, an analytics product to "help website managers improve their website experiences by better understanding site visitor behaviour", is now out of beta testing. Clarity was initially launched in 2018 as a closed beta.

Clarity's dashboard provides an overview of how many users click on non-existent links, the number of users scrolling up and down on a page in search of something they couldn't locate, how much time users spend navigating your website on average, among others.

Clarity can also show two types of heatmaps: clickmaps and scrollmaps. Clickmaps can help point out which content on a page visitors interact the most, while scroll maps can tell whether visitors actually see the content that you want them to see.

Furthermore, Clarity also uses machine learning to identify "rage clicks", "dead clicks", and "excessive clicking" across the dashboard, session recordings, and heatmaps.

Clarity is important to help site owners meet objectives and identify which crucial areas in the website lure users away, and which sections perform well to help improve the overall user experience.

Seems like a worthy behavior viz alternative to the Hotjars of the world. Thanks - will investigate.

We use hotjar at work, but it's quite basic. Seems like a lot of these features would be really helpful.

In real life you can anticipate users behavior but not predict.
Bunch of 100 users will see web site in their own unique way
and because there is no way you can create site to please
perception of 100 individuals distinct minds, I see it as just
another brainstorming created to more like confuse public
than help to find answers that would work for their own needs.

    My 2 cents

I installed it on launch day. It's okay. They include some analytical data that is pointless because it is already being collected in whatever analytics program you are running.

The screen recordings are interesting to watch. See how people are interacting with your site. Sometimes you will be surprised.

The heatmaps are interesting, especially if you are split testing something.

Clarity is nothing mind-blowing, but hey, it's free. It's not bad at all for free.

I think there are just too many tools out there. Hope Clarity will give users more value.
