Understand How Backlinks' Strengths

Hi, I have a quick question about backlinks. I understand how backlinks' strength are determined by a site's DA, placement of backlink, dofollow vs nofollow, etc.. But are specific categories also stronger because of their categories?

For example, are editorial backlinks stronger because they ARE editorial backlinks or because they adhere better to criteria I just spelled out (in the body of the site, often near the top)? Same thing with comment backlinks? Are they weak because they're comment backlinks or because they're near the bottom of a page and often have to share outbound backlink juice with tons of other comment backlinks?

Thanks!

    Really?
So tell us, how DA does it and what DA has do do with backlinks?
We're expecting that you will provide solid facts and not just Moz's wishful thinking.

DA of a website tells about its authority. And obviously, a backlink from the high DA relevant website will be much better than a low DA irrelevant website.

Editorial backlinks are the strongest as they come from the main content. Your link is being discussed in the main body of content which is much stronger.

      No, not obviously.

You are getting a backlink from a page.

A page that has 10 good backlinks that sits on a site with DA of 10 gives you a backlink and a page with 0 backlinks of its own that sits on a site with DA of 70, the first one helps you more.

It is the quality and the number of backlkins the page you get your backlink from that determines the strength of your backlink.

I totally agree with you. DA can be easily manipulated with spamming and PBN's !!!

Can you provide me with a study that confirms this? If a link isn't provided, you can provide the title, and I'll search it myself. Thank you so much!

Analyze the page 1 results on majesticseo or some such tool. If you do a bunch of keywords, you'll notice things like:
          1 had 23040 backlinks
          2 has 8214
          3 has 147247914
          4 has 12
          5 has 83174
          6 has 148.

You look at the pages where some of the backlinks come from and you have your answer... Hint... many of the pages with lots of backlinks have urls like: domain-name.com/ch4/b79bb2/image/f284... They don't have backlinks usually. Not even one...
