Hello

I am fairly new to the Adsense world, keyword research etc. I have tried a few niche sites but I'm lucky to make a $10 per month combined total from all of them. I'm on the 1st page of google for my target keywords on some of the niches but im just not getting the traffic. The search volume is supposed to be over 1000 per month but I only get a few hits per day at most. I don't know why, but perhaps the search estimations in Google of 1000/per month are wrong. I don't know.

Anyways I did some research and I'm curious on your opinions on this info. Even if it's too hard to go for I know I will learn what all the numbers mean and what to look for.

I am learning a language as a hobby and I was thinking of starting a blog giving advice on learning this language. This way it is something I am interested in and won't find it a burden to make regular posts/updates etc. It will be a hobby for me but at the same time I will learn skills in SEO and internet marketing etc. Further, I won't have to pay anyone for content as I will be able to do it all myself.

I did some keyword research and I was considering going for a 5 word domain name to be able to cash in on many various search terms at once (is this foolish ?).

Here are the results of the research. I will just represent the keywords with numbers. The domain I was thinking of using was "www . 12345 . com"

First of all I am wondering if it's easy to knock youtube pages off the first page of google ? The page ranks for my keywords are all very high. I realise it would be almost impossible to beat those pages but what about youtube or forums ? What does "n/a" Pagerank really mean anyways ?

Further by taking a 5 word domain name will I be able to cash in on all the search results above ? As the word order will be exactly the word order of my domain name.

I understand that the key to niche marketing is finding high search keywords with low search results in google (ie not many pages available on the internet) and also the top 10 search results are low page ranks. That doesn't actually apply here as there are many pages and strong page ranks but this is a blog that I would update regularly for years to come so it's more of a long term goal. At the same time I would take what I learn and try to apply it to the easier niche sites that I may stumble upon.

Another thing I don't quite understand is what is the difference between :

keyword search
"keyword search"
[keyword search]

I assume "keyword search" finds sites that have those words together exactly as I write them. The broad search keyword search according to my understanding would find sites with the words "keyword" and "search" but not neccesarily together. Finally [keyword search] I have no idea what that is as the results seem to be no different with or without the [ ].

I look forward to your analysis and input.

Kind Thanks

James

    Why try and cover all bases with one domain and lots of keywords?

    Just register 1 first and concentrate on getting that to work first. That will take enough effort for you to start with.

    For example - if you find a long tailed keyword with a good search number in Google (exact search) then focus on that.

    e.g. blackfastcats.

    Why bother with blackwhiteredfastcats?

    Focus on narrow niches.

      @Easycash

      Thanks for the input. I was just wondering if one could cash in on multiple different search terms with one domain name.

      For example www . howtoloseweightfast . com

      The above domain would get you : "how to lose weight fast" "how to lose weight" "lose weight fast" and "lose weight" - that's 4 different searches that are likely to occur. This was my thinking behind this idea. Is this foolish thinking ?

      Thanks

    This is probably possible - however, it would be determined how much competition there is for each group of words.

    A better way to do it might be to register 2 words as your domain and then create a page for each long tailed keyword.

    So;

    Your domain could be:

    HairyCats.com

    You would then create 'silos' of your site for each sub-niche.

    This is still effective as your keywords are in your page address.

    Check out this post on my blog about silos.
