Good to Link this Way?

I never thought about this before - but I have a client's landing page that has listed in the SERPs as: abc dot com - however, I backlink to his landing page as www.abc dot com.

Should I backlink to his site the way it is listed in the SERPs (in other words - drop the www) or does it really matter?

it will give backlink to that link only which you put on another site

you should do a google search on the "canonical" tag... it will enlighten this situation for you.

  Yes, I also think the same way. Using www or not while linking back to your site will not matter anything.

Hmm. I'd say always link to www.domain.com, that will still boost domain.com, I've not really seen any difference, although you can do the test in Yahoo, by searching "link:domain.com" and "link:www.domain.com" and there WILL be a difference. I'm not sure how much it matters, but I've never worried about it and my sites still rank in Google so I'm happy-
