Does this SEO tactic still work?

I don't recall what this was called exactly, but many years back, I was using a set of scripts on a separate domain name, that would auto-create tons of webpages (SEO optimized, based on a list of keywords) to get indexed on Google. When Google would visit the page, would see one version of the page, but when a real visitor would hit the page it would get auto-redirected to my real website.

I know a lot has changed so I don't know if this is still a valid strategy, not only asking if it works but I don't want to take a chance at getting my website penalized.

    So, when Google manually reviews the site, what do the real people Google hires see? The answer to that might tell you the chances of receiving a penalty somewhere down the line.

    Not a good way in my opinion. You may be penalized for doing so. Now the algorithms are working so smart that you can't play with the crawlers.

    It's called mass page website. it's NOT working anymore. Google DEINDEXING those website.
