That's not going to happen. ChatGPT is just an AI tool and is dependent on information online. People will provide information only if they expect visitors. And to bring visitors SEO is needed. You may also ask ChatGPT going to replace Google. NO Way..

i'm happy seo is there even though i don't know exactly what it entails yet. i just k own it seems complicated every time i begin to read up on it!

it compliments my email marketing to give info and drive traffic. and i am blessed to have a new virtual assistant, who knows both what i do and the tech/seo side of things.

Google has been developing AI for YEARS. "Hey Google" followed by a question and Google Home spits out an answer. There is nothing new or revolutionary about any of this.

Here is my hot take on all of this - Google Home, Alexa, or ChatGPT produces AN ANSWER - as in ONE answer - or THE answer - not a list of answers... and the answer provided may or may not be what you the searcher is looking for - guess what happens then... you search.

Look at the local 3 pack block in Google search, the results are based apon the location and preferences and all kinds of added filters - for all intensive purposes the results are AI based results and have been for YEARS

This just happens to be the latest and greatest Chicken Little moment... the sky IS NOT FALLING

ChatGpt or any other tool can't replace Google or SEO. There would be certain limitations on one or the other side. No current data + how it will get data from Google? SEO is not replaceable tbh. Google has been working on AI based system already, so it would be difficult to answer with yes.

I really have no deep understanding of ChatGPT or what it can do. I'm sure it's a great tool for people who think that cranking out blog post after blog post is going to actually help them rank better. What could be better for lazy people or those who cannot write?

I have to wonder, though, since I have never tried it, what happens when 2, 3, 5, 10 different people all put in the same seed words for an article? Does it always create 100% unique content for all 2, 3, 5, 10 people ... OR ... do you just get completely duplicate content or duplicate enough content so that nobody's article is any better than the others' and is strikingly similar/duplicate? Seems like that is not close to an ideal scenario for SEO.

ChatGPT does so much more than just generating content. Anyone using it for content generation is just scratching the surface of what it can be used for.

Like Mike said, it does more than writing articles.

If you're using it only for that, and just give it seed words, you're not really using it.

You can ask it questions and it gives detailed answers, which you can combine into an article.

It can write articles, beginning to end, based on question prompts and more. It's kind of like, you're the teacher asking students to write an essay /article /short story...

You could ask it to write in a particular style... You could teach it to write like you, presumably... your style.

Duplication will exist but kind of like it exists when you ask 20 people to write an essay on a particular topic.

So, you could ask it something like it: how are FHA mortgage loans better than Conventional loans, and it will come up with a bunch of ways.

And, from the little I've seen, the result is much better than most internet marketing / make money online people I've come across.

You could ask it to write the same article in the style of different people (an SEO article in the style of Virginia Wolf, then, the same article in the style of e.e. cummings, then Hemingway, then Faulkner... It can get fun real fast.)

It is unlikely that SEO will die after ChatGPT takes place. SEO will still be a valuable tool for businesses to use for optimizing their websites for search engine rankings. AI is here to stay - that genie is not going back in the bottle. I' ve wondered if the real money to be made might be in selling 'shovels' - a way to detect A.I. in places where it would be considered 'cheating'.

Then I saw this -

It seems - at least in the US - that we are often resistant to some changes but then we fully embrace the technology and perhaps leave ourselves less intelligent or more vulnerable in doing that.

I may be wrong - but isn't there opportunity for programmers to develop apps for forums, for social media platforms, etc...that quickly identify AI contributions? Seems to me that could be a long running battle....between AI improving to beat filters and new filters being launched to keep up with AI.

Heard on the radio (yup, I still listen to the radio) about a high-school senior who developed a program that can tell you if it's AI-written or not... He's got some colleges and high schools wanting to buy his doohickey. With a bit of marketing, he can make it go national and make lots of money.

The main problem for me is the way you get information from ChatGPT, if it is wrong or right, the information get presented the same way. So there is a high potential that you use wrong information.

In other words, it is no different than content created by people. Of course, it only makes sense since the content is being "borrowed" from other sites on the internet that were likely created by people. I shudder to think what is going to happen when bots start interpreting and then re-writing other bots' content.

I think it all goes down to what information YOU want.

Like for instance, sometimes all we need is a simple yes or no as an answer (QnA). Sometimes, we want thorough detailed definition (like resorting to Wikipedia), sometimes we need suggestions in a human like approach (chatbot or in this case ChatGPT).

So I think ChatGPT will not replace Google (yet) but its getting to the point that people would want to talk to AI because of the hype, and be amazed by it (at this time).

Google needs people to view its ads. If more people resort to ChatGPT for whatever reasons at this time, it's a threat to its business.

FYI, CharGPT is only months old, and it already has 100 millions users. So yes, Google is scared, but not the way most people think.

at first i was afraid as a fiction writer also that AI written novels and blurbs might replace me altogether, but one post i read said the book generated was only 150 pages and the blurb it also wrote for it didn't feel like it has soul.

i'm going to read a few of these AI novels if i can and evaluate, but my soul is the most important part of my stories and novels. Also, i research and hand pick public domain eerie vintage images to manually embed inside the story to give it atmosphere here or there. does AI even generate or find free-use images?

I just do a lot as a human in both my online business and as fiction writer that it feels like AI can't replace.

i'm also a fiction writer and was nervous at first about competing with AI written novels.

But i research and embed public domain vintage weird photos in a few strategic places within the novels to provide atmosphere or shock, and my soul goes into my stories as well as my online business so there's much that AI can't do that I can.

i currently use a ai tool, i have to admit it is great the tool does things on automation that a human couldnt do it likes and follows so many blogs that i couldnt physically do in any one day or month, and on top of that it reviews blogs efficently better than i ever could, but something it cant do is accept comments from the blog owner, that its all down to the blog owner if they think it is good enough, even with chat script being amazing it will never replace seo, there will always be a human part invovled i think even with goggle seo it is reviewed by people. seo is still very important for getting targetted traffic but seo is just one part of the process, after that email marketing is key to the success of any online business, and even though automated scripts can help us greatly, it is always about story telling and only you can tell your story, chat gpt will just enhance our businesses but never replace what we bring and seo is part of it.

I think generative AI is going to radically transform the search ecosystem.

Right now Google and Bing are rolling out experiments, but they will eventually go mainstream.

Many people enter questions into search engines. They see search results and eventually come to our websites hoping to find the answers.

With generative AI, the system will answer the user's question directly. It will rely on information drawn from the web, but it will give well-written, comprehensive answers to the users' questions. The user can even ask follow-up questions, and the AI will support a contextual conversation.

The user will never need to leave the AI conversation, and will never click through to the websites that provided the underlying information.

Some years ago, people thought that computers would replace all books and paper documentation. In fact, paper consumption has increased over the last few decades.

I think the same will be true with SEO and AI.*

I completely agree with you. And I want to add that yesterday I read an article about whether artificial intelligence can replace the profession of copywriters or writers. As it turned out, such platforms as YouTube, Tik Tok, and Instagram already read the texts written by artificial intelligence. But I think that he is a great assistant, but definitely not a substitute.

I don't think that. Chatgpt is the good tool to derive content but still it requires human approach to make it for more realistic. Even you can put yourself in the shoes of audience. Will they get any value from that content? That really matter. So i believe Google is not going anywhere. They can even design new algorithm for their platform may to avoid AI related content.

When I asked the same question on ChatGPT, ChatGPT replied, "As an AI language model, ChatGPT holds the capabilities of natural language processing and understanding, which notably provides efficient and precise results within a specific domain. However, it is not likely that ChatGpt will replace Google as a search engine. So that's the reason ChatGPT will not be able to replace Google.

It is really a difficult question to answer i think, chat gpt will help the user create great content that they would never been able to write without this great software that is for sure, but having worked with a goggle represenative on different seo projects, the same is for goggle and you tube it is manually verified, i noticed when i used a scrip software it was accepted, the feed back they knew it was copy and pasted, and for the most part they gave feed back too it was generic, they knew it was computer generated and didnt really answer the question or gave a solution, i would use chat gpt to help write, but it would always require a human element too to make it work and rank, hope this helps, thanks for sharing this

ChatGPT cannot replace SEO. In fact ChatGPT is not updated as many say. SEO is a universal phenomenon. It will never die. Backlinks are the backbone of SEO. These backlinks can be built gradually and they cannot be done meticulously by means of ChatGPT.
