Hey SEO community!

I need your help. Upwork has become too noisy for me to find new SEO clients effectively. I'm open to working 40 hours per week and want to explore other avenues. Any suggestions on how to attract new clients? What platforms or techniques have worked well for you?

Your insights are greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Moiz!

It's competitive out here so you should probably
increase the types of services that you offer.

Upwork might be a drag but if there are clients,
you should stay there. And then get on as many
other freelance platforms as you can.

Check your competition to see what they are
doing and what services they are featuring.

Become an expert and learn how to promote
    yourself.

Publish KDPs about SEO and other topics and
try to drum up some business that way.

Sitting around wondering where you can find
new paying clients won't get you anywhere,
especially when there are a gazillion other
people doing the same exact thing.

You're in the SEO field, surely you can SEO your sales page enough to get clients from it, no?

Also, look on craigslist and other such places where people place ads for 'marketing' things/services. Answer those ads, get them to see they do not need to hire an SEO specialist or marketer when you can get them all the clients they need.

My goal is not to be obnoxious but to point out to you that most want the results of SEO not the SEO, so position yourself accordingly and market yourself. Even on the boards you're on right now, increased positioning and marketing will get you more clients... Answer their main question: why you?

Maybe you need to put in the hard work and search for websites ,find their contacts and mail them with a seo proposal for the website ,and maybe you need to work cheaper if you need more clients

moizz - please put your cursor on your forum name in the black toolbar (above right on this page) and click on the "view classic" in the gold 'box'

That will allow you to use the classic forum view and you can quote the person you are answering. Much better for participaating on the forum.

Then you can use the 'thanks' button for those who post a helpful answer.

I am just curious that you are an expert on SEO, how comes you are asking how to gain customers? Will you hire somebody called a marketing expert but has no idea how to get customers? Why do not start blog marketing?

Hey Lee, you are right! There are few things that we are facing RN is team. When we get a project to work on then no longer able to market ourselves. As it requires long wait and consistent efforts. Without a team its getting tough to manage these things parallel.

I have always found fiver to work so well, i am always looking for seo work to be done for me suppose i am the customer or the client and not in your position, but just because i have worked with a lot of different seo guys, my current supplier has about 100 orders or so at the one time, i noticed on fivver this is the case for the ones i actually use, so the clients seem happy with the sellers there, i havent ever used upwork but it is basically the same type of service, i hope u find the right clients for your business.

Thanks for the insight, i get your point. But on other hand clients on upwork are far professionals than clients on fiverr.

Linkedin and Facebook is the best way to find clients. Also create portfolio website or services website to catch the clients

  • Hello Moizz

Market is getting saturated day by day as many new professionals are joining the working platforms like Fiverr and Upwork. In order to break the clutter,You should join Guru, Freelancer.com etc.

You need to create a professional LinkedIn profile highlighting your expertise and past success.

In addition to that, Build a professional website showcasing your skills, Build Your Portfolio, Share Your success stories along with client testimonials, and write a blog with insightful SEO tips.
You can use pull marketing to attract multiple clients. You need to write blogs to educate your target audience. Resultantly, they may become your potential clients.
Utilising social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram to share your knowledge and realise the audience about Your presence in the market.

Create a personal website that highlights your SEO career and achievements.

Then promote that website with right keywords. For example, SEO consultant + your city or location.

Create a strong LinkedIn profile. These methods take time, but will work.

I think creating a personal website is more better. We all know the benefits of Upwork but as the competition is high on upwork, we can try our website. With the website, we can target type of clients that we actually want. And to convert them we always have the one best example of ourselves.

I am not an SEO expert but I can tell you different methods that I learned in a few months that are:
    1. Make your social media presence like create a Facebook page and start posting or you can run ads there.
    2. Find local businesses through Facebook or Google and pitch them your services.
    3. Create your service-based website and target the local market such that you can target Florida or any other specific country that you want to grab clients.
    4. Build a network this is worth the value.

    Hi Moizz,
Start a blog and write your own content, link it to your upwork profile for potential customers to see.

If you haven't yet, create a LinkedIn profile and promote your blog and Upwork account there. You can build a connection base fairly quickly by adding LION (LinkedIn open network) users.

It'll take time to build a reputation, but the more you put yourself out there, the better your chances will be to land a gig.

Keep at it, keep writing, and stay positive.
