Hi

Two of my sites are google slapped. In my PPC I get 1 or 2 clicks instead of the 100 clicks.
Is there anything you can do for this?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Hard to know what to say without really looking into your account, or what you actually did, you don't give much information in your post.

What did you do, give the exact specifics, as if it was like a C.V

Excuse my ignorance - but what is Google slapped? I am quite new and I keep hear about this - but am unsure what exactly it means.

Does it apply only to Pay per Click Campaigns?

    Thank you.

There's a lot you can do actually but you've got to provide a whole lot more info. Unless you're willing to discuss your ads, URL's and everything with your acct, then i't s just a guessing game and not much anyone can do to help.

Just make sure that your landing pages have the keywords you're paying for on them and that your ads do also. In other words, keywords on your landing page and the same keywords in your ads. That will usually solve most problems.

You might need to create custom landing pages for each ad, but it's worth it, your cost per click will go down. It's also best if landing pages have product reviews - these kinds of pages convert better than other types of pages.

Option 1) Fight with Google and try and get everything for what they deem perfect with your ads, keywords, landing pages, content and etc.
Option 2) Download adwords editor. Upload your campaign. Get a new .com. Copy your campaign from adwords editor. Change the URL. Delete your old campaign. Run the new one.

Yes, I have tried the route where I had content, videos, no affiliate links, no adsense, every keyword had it own landing page, and each of those landing pages expanded on the keyword which lead to my application. Tons of pages, all to the perfection of the Adwords contact I had ... slapped. So ... I create a simple lead gen page that takes 20 minutes to get the .com, set up the template, market, run with it, and know that every 2-3 months it will get hit. Agree, or disagree, it works, takes a lot less time, and I have plenty of sites for SEO :-)

And for those that asked, a "slap" is google determining with ,their quality score algo, that your site is not deemed good enough quality. So they say your either raise your bids (Does not work ... I Bid $3.50 on many keywords and $5-$10 still got no traffic), or correct your quality score (Have Fun). The new version is a little more sly, but same effect.

In the past, I certainly have had great success when a few domains were slapped by purchasing a new domain and using the same old AdWords campaign. Has worked most times in the past.

Of course attention to the fundamentals is also required such as good landing pages with some decent conent, targetted ads, and ad groups with 'tight' clustered keywords, and use of legals and a site map at bottom of site.

        Hi Jenn & jiefred,

The term "Google Slap" was coined after the first AdWords quality score update. It refers to having your minimum bids increase suddenly and significantly due to quality score issues.

When this first occurred it was a mystery to many folks why AdWords raised their bids so much. They eventually explained through blog posts and ultimately ended up including some indicators of what type of issues are causing your quality score issues ("Google Slap").

Since it only applies to Google AdWords advertisers it's not surprising that many folks without much experience in PPC advertising ask "What is a Google Slap?". Now you know.

editing out forum bug... Allen, I told you about this the other week, still not fixed yet bud...

when your forum says I have to wait 30 seconds to post another post, it still gets posted but I am redirected to a page that asks me to wait, and when timer counts down to zero and resubmit, I get a double entry.

break up your kw's into 'themed' adgroups.

make a landing page for each adgroup, making sure to use the keywords of that adgroup in your pages content.

seriously, that's really all it takes to keep your QS at least at 'ok'.

If your trying to do a squeeze page, put your squeeze content above the fold, then simply push the other content under the fold.

Like some have said unless we know what you did it's hard to say, but there's some good advice in here already.

    1) Make sure you segment your ad groups. If people are searching for "money making home course" and "money making home courses" I'll still put those into separate groups even though they are almost exactly the same.

    2) Assuming you got your keywords by using a keyword research tool then you should look at all the keywords that come up. And if you just thought up keywords you should check them in a keyword tool anyway. Also, no matter what tool you use make sure you use Google Keyword Suggestion Tool to look for keywords that are related to yours and also look for keywords from the site you are promoting. It has the ability to do both. Then, look at every related keyword that comes up after you search for your main keyword and (besides coming across some gems that you may be able to use) look at all the words and see what you obviously don't want to get clicked on and make those words a part of your negative keyword list. You should also have a list of negative keywords stored that are almost always applicable like: WAREZ, DOWNLOAD, BITTORRENT, etc.

    3) You should probably do this at first but especially if you do not have a tight and comprehensive negative keyword list never use broad match. At least when you start if you are not sure just use [] and ""

    4) Make sure your keyword is relevant enough to the landing page and try to use an ad that is saying something similar to some text on the landing page that is at the top or close to the top of the page.

    5) Use tracking of keywords whenever possible. If you believe you are doing things pretty well and some keywords that trigger ads are just getting clicks but no conversion after a while or if they get lots of impressions but no or very little clicks and nothing you do can make it better then don't sit on it and please chuck it. At the very least pause that group to come back to it in the future when you feel you may be able to make it perform. It will bring your overall QS down.

I have had even .05 clicks or so with quality scores that were only 5/10 or 4/10. If you do enough right and try to be as relevant as possible then you should not have much problems. I've never had the problem you are having (knock on wood) and you shouldn't either if you refine and make your campaign as tight as possible.

The Google Slap is really an adjustment made to AdWords that penalizes advertisers who have landing pages and sites with little content. It especially slapped advertisers that use "name squeeze" pages, since name squeezes tend to have very little content.Advertisers with name squeeze, and other short landing pages, suddenly had high minimum bids for many of their keywords - keywords that they'd been getting relatively cheap clicks on.But nearly ALL advertisers have felt the slap on at least some of their favorite keywords.Everyone wants lasting relief from the Google Slap.If You want more info,it helps putonyourgoggles.com as a way to beat the google slap and get great quality score.
