Would this be considered the google dance?

Hi Warriors,

I have a site that has slowly been moving up the rankings using various linking methods. Lately however Google seems to be switching which page is indexed and is moving me down in the rankings as these pages switch. I've always built links to my main page and 1 inner page. Google seems to like to rank a 2nd and 3rd inner page. Should I switch my link building and build against these 2nd and 3rd pages? Or should I just simple wait a few weeks and see what happens?

Thanks for you help,

Nick

The google dance does not exist anymore. It used to be that as they rolled out their update people would see the update appear and then disappear. Now it is pretty much instantaneous.

You should just engage in good practices and over time you will surely benefit. Make a site that people love, and you will have truly found something that is for keeps.

    Nick,

It sounds like you have a good linking structure in place. Keep building links to your interior pages (and make sure those pages have links with your target keyword to your home page...it's called "interior linking"). I like to build my links at 50% to the home page, and 50% to interior pages. I'll focus on around 70% anchor text for my target keyword and 30% of variations of that keyword to mix it up.
