Using RSS for backlinks, what now???

Many people say RSS is great for link building so my plan is to use RSS for daily link buidling (no need for actual subscribers).

Using information from searching this forum I've reached a certain stage but I'm not sure on the best way to continue so I'd really appreciate some guidelines on the experts here. A number of people have asked about doing this in various threads so any information given in this thread will be helpful for many people.

This is what I have so far
-a blog network of 5 sites
-set up a feedburner account
-obtained an rss feed for each site
-found a few lists of RSS feed directories/aggregator sites/feed aggregators....

This is what I'm planning to do next but need help on
-submit the 5 RSS feeds to RSS feed directories
-look into an automatic service like Big Mike's RSS bot
-do this regularly and wait for the links to build up and rankings to improve

In terms of effective link building and time management, what suggestions do you have and/or what changes would you make to this plan??

Thanks

Can someone please explain RSS for backlinks? I get how this would work for a blog or content site, but is there any relevance for a shopping / ecommerce site?

If so; how do people use this method?

RSS should just be a part of your link strategy not your main strategy..

Use it when you bundle up your links together into a feed and submit those.. then when you add other to the same channel ping it..

Submit all of your rss feeds direct from the like of ezine and squidoo then re-ping when you add new article or content.

You should be building links if possible as your main ranking vehicle and using rss for syndication and promotion of those links....

Why should you submit the RSS feeds daily? You only need to submit them one time, they will say it's "duplicate" if you submit it more than once or say it's already in use"... I've tested this before and it's true... Unfortunately.

But RSS is good for backlinks, so place your RSS feeds on sites like Squidoo etc where you can actually submit your RSS feed and leverage the power of making the links in the RSS feed clickbable, such as on the side of my blog.

    That's what it's good for.

Finally had a chance to log on and check this thread.

Thank you very much for the great information you've added Steve, Chris and Daniel.

Daniel you've given a lot of information that I'm not sure about so instead of asking a lot of questions, I'll research your points, do a bit testing and see how things go.

Thank you once again guys for the great information you've contributed to this thread.
