Hello everyone, I'm looking for some advice on where I can find people interested in doing link exchanges. I have a website that I want to improve its visibility on Google. Any tips on how to enhance SEO would also be greatly appreciated.

Let me fix that for you: Anybody who knows about the SEO knows that those methods are useless for link building that actually make a difference.

Feeling that this method of link exchange is of little use, you can look for relevant forums or communities where there are many people looking for link exchange opportunities as well. It's also a good idea to reach out directly to sites with similar themes to your site. I'm having a headache with outbound link building right now too.

Try to seek guest posting and do some directory submissions, they could really help a lot.

To enhance your SEO, focus on creating high-quality content, optimizing on-page elements (titles, meta descriptions, headers), and ensuring your site is mobile-friendly and fast. Building relationships within your industry is key for both link building and overall SEO success.

    Hey Nino!
Long time no type! I used to run a bunch of blogs before Thailand.. but the internet in Laos was non existent.. and back then it wasn't much better in Thailand. I am starting to build up some sites again and have some of the same questions.. this is what was working for me..

    DISCLAMER:
Most of this is probably good information but the best test is to look at wats working today in the serps..

    Bird's eye view:

When google indexes a new page it really doesn't have enough data to rank it properly.. So it throws it into the index and compares it to the rest of that page in the serps.. If user signals look better than the rest it moves up.. If it looks worse it moves down.. Kinda like fight club for blog posts It will bounce around until google decides where it belongs..

Some of the key factors are time on page... make the article as engaging as possible.. Keep them reading.. Videos are good.. If you stay and watch a video google thinks you must be happy with the content.. Put the pictures on the edge of the fold.. User will scroll to see it and google is tracking the engagement with the page.. Make the text easy to read.. Good font size.. Good spacing just like an email.. If the user sees a big block of text it looks hard to read and they will back out.. Make the headers tell the story.. Some people will just skim the page.. Help them get a clear enough idea that they may want to click through to the next thing on your site.. Make good CTA's for your internal links.. You are selling the next blog post if you are not selling an offer..

    ON Page preparation:

More than half the battle is getting on page right before the links and traffic start..

Do internal linking anywhere it makes sense.. It shouldn't be forced.. But every page should be linking to two or three others. This is for SEO and also user experience.. You want the user to stay ON your site and not click back to search.. This signals to google that they found their answer with you and your content is better than the other pages they viewed.

Look closely at the first page of google for the search term you are shooting for. Your page should be better.. Add what you can to enhance the post.. Custom research.. Case studies.. Tables.. Personal stories just make it as helpful and engaging as possible.

Write link bait articles.. Anything other bloggers might want to reference.. Checklists.. Infographics.. Diagrams.. Tables with your research or case study data.. Everyone loves a good case study..

Load speed is important.. There are cache plugins that help.. You can compress images a bit.. But wordpress is heavy.. Even with a super lite theme.. It seems like no matter what you do when you get tons of content on it the site starts to lag.. I don't know what a long term solution to this is.. Maybe as soon as a site starts to grow, move it to a VPS by itself.

All the supporting pages count.. Legal pages contact.. About.. They all need to be complete and set up or google won't trust your site.

    Get Link Ideas:

Set google alerts on the key words you are focusing on

Do daily searches for [KEYWORD] + blog in google for link exchange guest post ideas.

Tools like ahrefs can show broken links on sites you want a link from.. You can write a high quality post and when you contact the site owner you can point out the bad links and ask them if they would like to reference your article on the same topic.

You can use tools to find content gaps in their site and offer to write a guest post for them in exchange for a link.

The best sites for me didn't really accept guest posts.. And heavily moderated their comments. But I have seen your blog and I know you can provide a real value exchange. The better sites are worth the effort for the traffic in addition to the link value

    Traffic Today Ideas:

SEO on a new site takes 3 to 8 months after being indexed to really start gaining traction, sometimes longer and sometimes over a year to get its full potential.

Real people read blog posts and some of them read the comments. High quality comments on a new post in a high traffic blog will absolutely bring in traffic and just take a few minutes a day.

Guest posts on high quality blogs brought me more traffic by far in the first year of a new blog followed closely by comments

    PRESS RELEASE

HARO is awesome.. You can actively look for questions you want to answer and write a release based on what the reporter is looking for. A lot of people do this so you need to be kind of quick.. After a few exchanges even if they don't use your article people will get to know you as the resource in your niche. These links are gold.. Not just for the backlinks but you get traffic plus the credibility of putting AS SEEN ON XXXX on your home page..

This is the BEST approach to press releases.. But I have never really had much luck with it.. I have however PAID for press releases.. This is a whole different thing.. Even if your PR doesn't get picked up by the news sites it WILL show on the press release sites.. The are big sites with high authority and make pretty good backlinks.. But.. i'd still like to see my blog on CNN and the WSJ

    Look at the serps:

If there is a blog already ranking.. Comment on it.. Then try for a guest post.. If there is a youtube video make a video.. If there is a medium post.. Make a medium post.. If there is a forum or quora.. Or reddit.. Start interacting. Just try to do what's already ranking, only do it better

    I hope this helps someone..

I don't mean to disappoint you, but link exchanges have been useless for SEO for quite some time now.

Try creating high-quality, original content for guest posts instead. Many reputable websites are willing to publish truly valuable and unique content without any charge.

This way, you can get some of the best backlinks you could ever imagine.

I don't see a lot of sense in link exchange, tbh, especially if your website is kinda new.

Firstly, it is pretty hard to find.
Secondly, what will you get from it?
In my experience, the other webmasters agree to exchange when your websites are at the same value ( read DR, traffic, keys, etc.).

But if your website is new, how such an exchange will improve your position?

The most effective way is to search for guest posting opportunities or even reach out to some relevant, valuable websites, and try to make some niche links from them.

In my opinion, you can join SEO forums or social media groups. You can also reach out to website owners in your area for guest posts. To improve your SEO, focus on making good content, using relevant keywords, and making your site work well. Building relationships in your industry is really important too. Good luck.

since I cant make my own thread at this time, I have some related question, for suppose my website is about selling Toys, and I am commenting on generally all websites (including, XYZ etc), do those back links value?
as I am new what should I do, focus on quality/relevant links, or go for quantity (number of links), as according to my learning, in 2024 quantity doesn't matter any more, please guide me if I am on write path or not?

There are number of ways to build a link but now a days relevancy matters rather then quantity of links, you can do blog exchange, and can build citation based local business listing mainly for gaining local business, you can also write quality content and post on well known theme based sites as per your business niche. hope this answer help you to understand your marketing plan.

Join industry-specific communities where people in your niche discuss SEO. Contact bloggers in your industry or niche. Many bloggers are open to exchanging links. You can also check Facebook groups and Linkedin communities. You can also check advertising marketplaces. These platforms have many listed sites and they offer all types of collaboration.

Sadly, link exchanges don't really work anymore these days. It is too obvious to Google that you are doing it for SEO. I would instead try getting links from HARO, niche edits and guest posts.
