I have read about big Mike's RSSbot (the software that helps you to submit your feed to RSS directories, costs $24.95) and saw many recommendations from people who use it in this forum, so I downloaded the trial version and tried it. I was also checking the phrase "free rss bot" in google and noticed that there are free rss submit softwares as well.

I have few questions about that:
When you submit your wordpress blog feed you actually submit your mydomain,com/feed URL. As I get it - you do that one time only per RSS directory. Once you submitted your feed, any post you publish is automatically updated in the feed - and in the RSS directory you already joined.

If so -
1. If you submit your feed one time only when you register to a specific RSS directory, than what's the point of buying RSS bot?
2. Am I wrong? do you have to submit your feed each time you post a new article in your blog?

Thx, just created my 1st blog, looking for simple tools to improve SEO and get backlinks.

There are lots more feeds than just your main site URL:

    (1) create web 2.0/blog page on hubpages/blogspot, etc., which links back to your main site, and submit that feed, and ram that through rss bot.

    (2) create a new RSS feed for your main site URL using feedage's html2rss converter, and ram that through rss bot.

    (3) bulk convert your backlinks that are not as easily found by the search engines (profile backlinks especially) using the bulk html2rss converter at feedage, and ram that through rss bot.

    (4) convert any other backlink (articles, or whatever), and ram that through rss bot

    (5) combine all of the RSS feeds above into one RSS feed and ram that through rssbot.

The possibilities are endless. For any site I will end up with 100s of RSS feeds.

P.S. you are not incorrect about how RSS feeds are automatically updated.

Thanks, thmgoodw!!! I've been looking around for exactly that information - how to make the most of RSS for marketing. Great explanation, really cleared up some points I was confused about.

Who said the OP was wrong?

I stated "you are not incorrect about how RSS feeds are automatically updated", which means that he was correct.
