Setting up a single website or multiple websites as an exporter and importer.

We are starting as an exporter and importer of agricultural products. While the Indian office acts as an exporter, our office in the USA imports and distributes those goods.

My question is for SEO purposes, should we setup a separate website for the IN office that acts as an exporter and a separate website for the US office?

E.g. example.com/in and example.com/us

The thought is that, as an exporter, we could generate leads to sell goods to other countries as well.

What will be the pros and cons of having a single website vs multiple websites when it comes to SEO?

There are other ways to get traffic besides SEO.

If you are a corporation, you will likely advertise, engage in other
promotions such as press releases, plus referrals from people in
    your industry.

Set up however many websites that are necessary to conduct your
business efficiently and don't concern yourself about SEO as the
primary factor for establishing your online presence.

Everything depends on the semantic core. I am sure that if we collect semantics in each individual region, many questions will disappear by themselves

It is a matter of choice and opinion . More importantly the target market for the websites .
A website does not have to be a speciality . it can cover both the import and export activities of the business.

If you are looking at this from an SEO point of view , bear in mind costs . You may be able to focus your SEO Costs on one website rather than duplicating costs for two seperate sites . The number of visits to a site also affects its ranking . If two sites that your visitors are divided between the two .

In the end it all depends on your primary aim . Is it costs , SEO ranking , or specialist sites focusing on one activity

If I were you, I'd go with two separate websites on different domains. That way, you reduce the future risk in case one of the sites suddenly loses traffic.

It also allows you to give access to two different SEO teams, so they can work independently without stepping on each other's toes.

It's just a safer and more convenient setup.
