Google Ranking with a free .co.cc domain

Recently I made a website about a toy for Christmas and targeted some keywords for it. I decided to use a free CO.CC - Free Domain name registration + Free DNS service. domain name as it is a seasonal website.

I figured that it would not rank in google since the domain name is country specific to the Cocos islands.

This morning I wake up and am in position # 16th out of 533,000 competing sites (broad match) for my secondary keyword and position # 32 for my main keyword out of 822,000 competing.

Now to bully my way into # 1

I think it's possible very soon, just keep to build your links everyday

Congrats! If the competition for your keyword is very low, you should have any difficulties ranking well with good backlinks. So is you are now ranking 16th out of 533,000 competing sites, that means you will soon hit the #1 spot.

    Good luck

That's impressive for a dot cc domain name. i've had similar success outside of the traditional three tlds (com net org); but during testing, what i found is that i needed to keep the link velocity constant at the very least. If you start building backlinks, don't stop too soon; when i did that during my testing, the domain dropped big time from the serps, whereas the other (control) domain did not. Granted, it's not very scientific given the small sample, but I still take it to be an indication of how sensitive these other tlds are, compared to the traditional three. Good luck on your Christmas toy site.

    Hello,

I have some questions about the free .cc.co domain names.
Is it really possible for anyone to rank high in Google in the search engines?
Do you recommend to add the domain to webmasters tools?
What is your expierence with this kind of domain?
