Hi, everyone, I have observed that some of the sites follow the same strategy like they get backlinks from only type for example maximum of their backlinks are from the comments especially from those websites which allow the comments, however they also have5-6 backlinks from the same category of niche e.g., if their niche is related to menu then from menu niche but their is no diversity in their link buildings but apart from all this they still get good traffic. So I am just wondering is this strategy really worth it?

Comment links can little help, mostly for traffic if they on niche related blogs or forums, but for SEO,they're weak - most are nofollow and dont really move rankings. If that's all you're doing, its not gonna hold up,you gotta mix it with real stuff like guest posts, niche edits, maybe a few natural mentions, google wants to see a mix that looks legit, just comment spamming won't works anymore

The strategy of obtaining most backlinks from a single type has a potential to drive organic traffic but not good for long term SEO. It may work temporarily but depending upon the single source of backlink results in lack of diversity that is very much important for sustainable rankings and preventing search engine penalties.

Backlinks in comment can be useful if they are genuine and relevant, but mass or low quality comment links are usually poor or harmful link. I will suggest you not to make backlinks in comments as it is not useful strategy.

Yeah, it can work short-term, but long-term it's risky. Google values diversity and relevance, so relying too much on one type (like comments) might catch up with them. Balanced, natural-looking links usually perform better over time.

Honestly, comment backlinks can still help a bit if they're relevant and not spammy, but yeah, lack of diversity in link sources isn't ideal long-term. I'd mix it up with some guest posts, niche edits, or even resource links to keep it looking natural.

No, the way you described is not a good link building practice. Links from comments are often not indexed (the pages where you placed them), and worse - Google may treat them as spam links, which they essentially are.

This strategy used to work well in the good old days not so sure how effective it is now.

About 12 years ago, we used to build links through blog comments, but later abandoned that approach because it can lead to penalties.

Any backlinks you build for your website should not look like spam.

  • The best backlink strategy is to earn high-quality, relevant links from authoritative websites by creating valuable, shareable content, guest posting on niche-relevant blogs, and building relationships with industry influencers. Prioritize quality over quantity and focus on white-hat techniques.

Well, that strategy might work as a cheap & easy start, but without a solid mix of links (guest posts, niche sites, mentions), you won't get far. Sure, you can get traffic, but long-term stability? Kinda shaky.

That's a sharp observation. While comment backlinks aren't the strongest type, if they're coming from relevant niche sites, they can still pass some value especially if the content is solid and on-page SEO is tight. Google does prioritize contextual relevance, so having links from within the same niche (even if limited in diversity) might be enough for decent rankings in low-competition spaces. That said, it's not a sustainable strategy. Lack of link diversity can become a red flag over time, and algorithms are constantly evolving. It might work now, but it's risky if you're aiming for long-term growth and authority.
