Splash pages-need some help

When using splash pages to increase search rank, do they have to come from a different server than the website your trying to rank higher?

I appreciate any help on this matter.

Do you know something I don't? When it come to splash pages, usually removing them is the absolute best thing you can do for SEO.

Generally speaking, splash pages are pushed by graphic designers because it gives them an opportunity to show off, but search engines typically see them as useless annoyances.
