Need some opinions from some SEO experts. I have a client website that is filled with dirty urls "/cgi-bin/gen.pl?id=4&view=basic" which are not SEO friendly. However, the problem is that their website has over 3,000 backlinks to these dirty URLS and has a PR 3.

Would you clean up the site and make the links SEO friendly and start over or would you do 301 redirects? Need some opinions on this one.

Thanks Warriors!!

I would suggest 301 redirection. It doesn't effect your rankings too.

Oh that is a good point.. You need to weigh things right.. If that dirty url will ruin your campaign.. Don't hesitate to clean it up and disregard the 3,000 backlinks.. Because you know why, dirty links could not be given value by SE's even if it has lots of link backs :-)
