Hey Guys,

I have been looking at a few domains lately and many of the .coms are taken... whats the next best domain for SEO, .net or .org?

Also, how much of an advantage is a .com domain over either a .net or a .org?

Thanks for the help!

Strictly for SEO purposes, it doesn't matter. Often the .com has a head start in terms of domain age and links but if it's an unindexed parking page with no links this won't come into play.

Using a .com has some advantages for branding and resell value though.

pcsmarketing... if you pm me the kind of keyword or niche you are in I'll run it through a new app I've developed and then pm you a list of keyword rich domain names that are available. I'll leave it up to you.

  • .com, .net and .org all have different purposes and it would be foolish to use .org for a business that sells products online.Select a domain merely for SEO purposes is not the right way to go about it.

From experience, it makes no difference what domain type you use.

When it comes to Seo, its all about backlinks and on site optimization.

No difference from an SEO POV. I would say go with .net as .org confuses joe public into thinking you are a charity or something (which I'm sure you're not).

I created a software tool - ppc domain hound that does this for me. I've found some very profitable .info and .net domains - even .org domains using this technique. Plus it's extremely SEO friendly.

I wouldn't say that is necessarily true although it does depend on the niche. Some niches are saturated whilst others aren't... but you can still find some gems if you know how.
