Purchasing a PR4 domain not listed in google?

Hi,


I'm thinking about purchasing a domain with PR4 (I've checked and it does have PR), but it's not listed in google. Could this be because it's parked at the registrar?

If I buy this domain and put new content on it, will google then just gladly reindex it as a PR4 domain?
Does it matter if the content is within the same niche as was original on the domain?

I've heard about 'google suspicious rank' or something similar, is that it?


Any experience or suggestions?

    Sounds like it's been banned. As for the PR it can still be "faked" by doing a redirect or modifying the .htaccess file of a high PR domain to the domain you'd like to purchase. Some sellers do this and switch to another site once you've bought it, thus the disappearing PR. You can check the backlinks, but unless you see some authority sites it's hard to tell.

    In google, type "info:" and then the domain name. If the domain returned is not the domain you typed in, the PR has been faked.

    do not do that if google found different content it will loose the pr ,also as it is not indexed in google with that high pr the only explanation is that the domain banned.

    Agreed. Use "info:" to see if the PR is true or not, remember that publicly visible PR on SEO tools is different than what it actually is (a few months behind), check the number of backlinks to the site (Yahoo Site Explorer, or link: in google which shows you a small %) and if you're buying on aftermarket auctions like GoDaddy, make sure not to change your Registrar after you purchase...you can change hosting/DNS, just not registrar

    A site with a high PR (which is suspicious at best) that is not indexed in google may not be worth it for the many reasons mentioned above. If the worst case scenario is true, that is the domain is banned, then it will be absolutely useless to the owner.

    Thanks for all your replies.

    I found a list with PR domain names which are for sale. Most of them are registered with godaddy. When I visit the site in Firefox, with SEO tool, it shows a godaddy parked site, but the PR bar in the browser shows that the domain has PR.
    However, doing a search on it in google, doesn't give any results.
    How is this possible?
    Is it simply because the seo tool is behind or how?

    So these kinds of domains can not be used for anything constructive?

    I would not assign much value to a Page Rank of 4 anyway. PR3 is a pretty normal value for a website that does not have too much work done to it. PR4 just needs some work on the backlinks.
