Building Backlinks to Blogs

It seems that you are asking a compound question there and that you are asking about backlinking to your articles on directories as well as backlinking to the posts on your blogs.

I find it to be very beneficial to offer backlinks to both articles submitted to directories and to blog posts. Those articles I submit which are given backlinks do far better in the serps and attract far more traffic than those I've let fend for themselves.

It's also worth considering HOW MUCH backlinking is required. You can use software such as Micro Niche Finder to give an indication of the level of backlinks required.

I find that for many longtail keywords, fewer than 20 backlinks is enough to get an article onto the first page of Google's results page. Of course, it's good to research this beforehand so that you don't choose keywords that are near impossible to rank well.
