Google is breaking my brain..

Hi guys, I have a question that maybe some of you have the answer. My issue is this.

I built a Poker related website in spanish and I have been doing my homework. The site is SEO optimized and I have been getting quality one way links. The thing is that since three days ago I have been in the #1 position in google's serp for 7 of my keywords and between all of them, they get 24000 searches a month (exact match). BUT.. According to Google Analythics I'm getting only 10-12 visits a day!! That put me to think, and checking other google domains, like google.es, google.com.co, google.com.cr, google.com.ar and so on, my website appears in the third or even fourth page of the serps FOR THOSE SAME KEYWORDS!!

What is going on there? How can I fix that? Is there a way?

I would really like to read your opinions, maybe some of you had the same problem.

Just because the monthly searches number is high, doesnt mean they will click on your site. Or maybe you need to switch your analitics tool, there's a lot of reason why this is happen. Maybe they just dont like your content

saiyan. In order to completely diagnose your problem, I need to ask you some questions.

      - Exactly how long ago did you start the site?

      - Where are your links coming from? (In general)

      - Is Google Analytics your only method of tracking traffic?

        - I started building it in september, but it must have two months online

        - I started with DoFollow blog comments, but I'm using Angela's backlinks right now. Actually, those were the ones that boost my site to those positions. At first I wasn't even in the first 500.

        - Yes man, I think I don't know other method :s

I think you did not get what I was trying to explain. I ment that I discovered that for diferent google domains I my site appears in the third or fourth page of the serps, and that's why I THINK am getting low traffic. All I want to know is why? Get it now??

My guess is you're not ranking #1 for those keywords. How are you checking your SERPS? Try here FREE Search Engine Rankings Check in Seconds

And it's normal for Google to serve different results on their country specific engines.

Two months is relatively new for a site, so it's possible that you might still be bouncing around.

If your link velocity is incredibly high for a new-ish site, you may have triggered Google's Algorithm to flag your site as spam.

It's possible that Google Analytics is only tracking direct visits to your home page or whatever page you've got i installed on. Sometimes It does this. For a site I own that gets 500+ Uniques a day, It shows about 50 =)

Get Statpress for WP, or Statcounter also and cross reference your data.

Mix in some Nofollow with some Dofollows. Google doesn't like 100% of your links being dofollow. This is unnatural and looks like spam.

          Hope this helps!

This is my theory of why you experience this difference in the serp.

I think for example that google.com.ar will shows sites that are more aimed to Argentina (if that is what .ar mean). so you are competing against local sites in that country

When hosting a site I try to get the site hosted in the country with the most traffic potential for the site. I'm having a site hosted at hostgator because the content is in English. so google think (I hope) that English means that the content is more relevant to English speaking countries. I could instead have hosted the site at a local ISP here in Norway. That would google maybe found strange - English content on a site hosted in Norway, it would expect Norwegian content instead

okay this is my theory, but please correct me if I'm wrong about it...

My hosting company is from my country but the servers are located somewhere in Florida. But I don't think it has much of an impact. You see, I have been searching for random things and noticed that for a lot of search queries, Spanish (from Spain) websites appear better positioned in the serp that Venezuelan websites (searches made in google.com.ve)

There are many reasons such a thing could happen.

What country are you targeting? I understand it's Spanish speaking...but would you prefer trafic from the US? Spain? Argentina? Chille?

The google keyword too is very tricky....

When you type in a keyword (to know search volume and data) it returns results based on location....You can edit your location..(hint thats why I ALWAYS use Google insights after I check a keyword's search volume)

The local search column is what you want to be looking at. Especially when it has to do with non english keywords..

                Here's what I suggest:

                Use the google keyword tool...
and get your spanish keyword...then select exact match...
that will give you the amount of searches (its ok to look at the global searches)

Select your keyword and Go to google insights and insert it...

It will show you where there are the most searches for that keyword.

Lets say you get Spain as #1 for those searches..

Go back to the google keyword tool and edit your location....to spain...and enter your keyword in exact match....

You'll see the real estimates...for your keyword in the most searched country which EXAMPLE: Spain

For about 15,000 monthly results - expect ~ 100 - 150 visits a day...for the first 3 positions...(depending on your title)...thats what I get for such a keyword, it depends on your niche and other factors..

You'll have a better Idea of what is a really good keyword...

Now lets say you see that spain gets the most visitors...then start backlinking from .es websites....Will help you alot...

                Hope this helps..

                Good Luck and Happy Holidays!

I tried the tool you suggested and the results are the same for the domains where my site appears in the third and fourth page. I'm starting to guess that my site appears #1 with local google domain is because of that new personalized search google is implementing now when you are signed out of your account. Maybe somehow google in its almighty wisdom knows that's the site I'm looking for and puts it in #1. I don't know, this is all guessing
