Backlinks to home page?

Hi everyone. I'm learning all about off-site seo lately and I have a question that I can't seem to found answered clearly, so hopefully some of you may be able to do it for me.

Daily, I build backlinks to internal pages on my blog. I was wondering if I should at that same rate be building backlinks to my homepage? Would this help my overall ranking for my keywords?

Thanks,

Jacob Martus

Yes, build links to all pages. I tend to do 60% to home page (root domain) and 40% to internal pages, but thats just me.

Yes, it will.. Just continue building those links, yet spread it to some of your main pages..

The homepage should be given the first priority. It can help improve the performance of all internal pages.

I used to build backlinks for the first page too and some 30-40% doing deep linking.
But when bookmarking, I do always bookmark on internal pages as this is look natural,
people usually bookmark internal pages (articles, images, videos, etc.)

I would recommend building backlinks to your inner pages ONLY. Say one of inner pages gets a PR2, your home page automatically becomes a PR2 also.

Backlinks are equally important to all the the pages.IMO there should be equal ration of creating the backliks for all the internal pages and home page too.

That is true, but it depends. What if your site has hundreds or even thousands of pages? Unless you dont mind spending hours everyday trying to equally backlink to every page it would be a much smarter move to focus on building backlinks to pages with targeted keywords that have high search count. Eventually those pages will get a high PR and so will your homepage, thus giving PR juice to all other inner pages. IMO that saves a lot of time instead of trying to backlink every page
