How do you guys do link baiting?

I have heard the term link bait quite a bit, but don't really know the best way to go about doing it.

Do you just write an awesome blog post in the hopes that someone will link to it?

I guess I'm just trying to figure out what everyone does to get back links this way.

Any help will be appreciated.

Basically you're looking to create some really great content that people will want to feature on their sites.

Some examples:

Viral Video campaigns (check out WillItBlend on YouTube)
Small Applications (millionaire calculator, death calculator etc)
TopTen lists
HowTo explanations
Very Controversial article on a popular subject
