An "Easy" Way to # 1 on Google

I was chatting to an SEO 'expert' the other day who told me that there is a relatively (in his words) "easy" way to get to the number 1 spot on Google.

Lets say you have an online shop that sells Christmas and festive goodies. As your product range is beginning to look a little tired, you decide to move into the Christmas Tree market.

By doing so, you want to target the keyword "Green Christmas Tree".

Let's assume for the purpose of this example that "Green Christmas Tree" is not a particularly popular keyword (competition wise)and, based on your KW research , it IS worth going after.

Here's a summary of his process to get to number 1 on Google for "Green Christmas Tree":-

* buy a keyword rich domain - something like Green-Christmas-Tree.com

* flood the site with content (relevant to the niche) and ensure all 'on-site' SEO is performed on each content page.

* Spend about 3 months linking the hell out of that website under the keyword / anchor text "Green Christmas Tree"

And then, to monetise the traffic...

* Once you're in the top 3 on google, set up a 301 redirect to the main site. In our example, the original e-commerce site selling Christmas Goodies.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this process? Specifically, I'm curious what Google does once the re-direct is working. For example, does it continue crawling the old site (Green-Christmas-Tree.com) or ignore it altogether? If the latter is true, i'm pretty sure the new site WON'T be top 3 in google for very long as it hasn't been optimised for the keyword (Green Christmas Tree).

What do you reckon?

Thanks
Martin
