Another dumb question

This may be dumb but, do is a domain name with 6 words in it too long? Its a specific long tail keyword that gets alot of searches, but is that overkill? I was thinking about shortening it, but still optimizing it for keyword I'm targeting. Any suggestions?

    From an seo standpoint, it probably won't make a big difference, but it certainly will be harder to type.

      People mix up SEO with other things.

      If you wish to get people to type the name in, then yes,
      it is way too long, depending on how catchy the phrase is.

      The domain name has nothing to do with SEO. That's why one of
      the biggest job sites chose monster.com and one of the biggest
      real estate sites chose zillow.com. Meaningless words for the
      niche, but catchy. And they rank very, very, very high. Just like
      all the biggest, baddest sites. They choose the coolest name
      they can think of, regardless of words. Remember bing.com?
      They wanted to be as cool sounding as "google."

      But, alas, too many people pull hairs out worrying about domain
      names instead of doing real SEO.

    I try to stick to 15 letters or less... perhaps up to 20. Long domains like that look unprofessional and are hard to promote sometimes your URL becomes so long you can not fit it into sites when you are creating your link back campaigns. Think about that... can you use it in anchor text?
