Since my Adword account got banned by the Big G for unknown reason ..I am pretty much devastated and lost the motivation to venture into online world again but there is quite a winter for my wallet and I guess I have no choice if I want to have some extra money to use as my main job just isn't good enough to make my life cheerier .

So I am thinking about doing SEO although I know that everything will be start from the scratch. But before that, what should I expect from SEO method before I start to earn the first cent from it?

Any tips and advise would be good.

EDIT : as for page for my site, how many pages or content should I have to have a decent ranking?

I would recommend making an affiliate niche site and testing different seo methods and find out which ones work.

Don't expect immediate results, SEO takes time. Rather than try and cheat the system, follow the rules and be patient...

Most importantly, do a thorough keyword analysis and pick some high volume, low competition keywords & keyphrases to aim for.

    Good luck!

Patience is the key with SEO. Don't try to hit a home run with one site. Lauch several small sites targeting sub niches and go after keywords that have high search volume low competition. Like the above post suggests. I am very sorry to hear about your account being banned. If you are a true beginner to SEO would you be interested in buying a course that tells you how to get started and rank well fairly quickly?

SEO takes a lot of time and is a continual process, do not expect instant results like you had in PPC.

Thanks for everyone's replies and there is another question I would like to ask.

I had few articles on the Ezine for few month and since I going for seo, I just registered a new appropriate domain name and the articles were related to the niche that I am doing now.

So should I modified those articles's resource box and change the URL to my latest domain name?
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[1578229].message }}
    • If the current links in the author's resource box don't apply anymore, then yes, by all means you should edit those articles and change the urls to the latest domain. Be sure to use at least one anchor text for the two backlinks.

Yes, do that. I don't know what kind of niche you are in but make sure to create a website (perhaps with WP) with a good content then monetize it with some affiliate products, which should be highly relevant to your content. There are many ways to monetize your site such as Adsense, text links ads etc.. etc.. so do some research on ways to monetize your site and find the best suited way(s) to make money from your site.

I know one lady who doesn't know any fancy IM techniques but committed to write just one article a day (Mon - Fri) and post it to ezinearticles.com daily. In her resource box, she puts a link to her simple blog where she monetize with an affiliate product. ...that's all she does and she makes over $100,000 a year from that!

She gets heaps direct traffic from her articles and because she is so consistent (5 submissions a week) and her articles are very "pre-selling" so her conversion is pretty high.

As you know, this is called Bum marketing, which can be a part of SEO since her blog gets backlinks not only from ezinearticles but from other websites where her previous articles been posted with her resource box attached to it. I don't do much Bum marketing now but I've done many times before and I sometimes could make first couple of sales within a week. So if you do it right and do it consistently, there is no reason why you can't make a decent income from this method alone.

If you don't like to write, obviously you can outsource it (make sure to find a good writer).

Find/create a good "in-demand" product (spend time for research), create a simple site, write quality articles consistently (even 2-3 times a week) and submit them to some of the major article directories. That's it!

Just my 2 cents... Good luck!

Dont expect results "over night", but SEO for me gets more and more interesting every day. I was not suspended from AW but i stopped it voluntarely some months ago.

Ever since my focus is article marketing and SEO, with some sites #1 in Google. Its extremely exciting to see sites climb up in serps for good keywords. Each niche/keyword is a challenge. #2 or #3 in Google already gives you a LOT of free traffic == money.

I am building sites (wordpress) for some times now and pretty much got the hang of what i need and what to look at now, i can make them fairly quickly now.

    1) keyword/niche research based on whats on clickbank, regnow, plimus etc...
(Because you want a niche where you know there is someting you can SELL
    2) Make site
    3) Design a bit, headers, banners
    4) add content

Then start building links, bookmarking, hire people. Article writing etc...etc... it totally pays off for affiliate marketing which i can NOT say for adwords.

Also..quality >> quantity. Times of "made for adsense" sites are long over, and its actually NOT a big deal to get good content on sites occasionally. + get a nice theme for your site, and you are set.

    Another question,

What make a good website? Does 17 pages content good enough or I need more pages or content before I can get a decent ranking in Google?
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[1696137].message }}
    • If you know what you're doing, the number of pages is irrelevant. The site in my signature was a simple sales page for almost 3 years and it ranked in the top 5 results for many of its primary keywords. The key to making that happen, however, is to build lots of backlinks.

In general though, more content is better. Ideally you'll add content on a regular basis AND build backlinks to your site.

I gather your Adwords account was banned and not your Adsense account?

If you have an Adsense account and want to make good money (and are prepared to work for it) I suggest you get Xfactor's Micro Niche Adsense Course and, importantly, pay his one time low fee to join his forum. That is one great forum for motivation, help with SEO and generally great ideas and tips to help reach your targets.

Thanks for everyone input. I will try to do what I can do in my current progress.

As for the backlink, it is doesn't matter if there is someone will click your URL or not in article directories, am I right?

It doesn't matter if they click the link but why wouldn't you want them too. Getting backlinks is not just about the link but also about traffic generation. In a perfect world you would backlink through a sig or profile that is within a highly targeted niche that wants your service or product. They might buy and you gain backlink benefits. Don't forget when doing SEO you are also trying to drive possible prospects to your site, if you forget this then it will take a lot longer for a sale.

I know what you try to say..well, I just assume that it would be the worst case if no one click my URL..now I kinda relieved to heard that it doesn't matter although it is good to have click though.

well i do not think it's the end all and be all that many make it out to be. Some think "get on top of Google" and you are going to be rich.....it doesn't work that way.

It's a start. You get a few $$ worth of free advertising. But then can you convert? Do they want it? It's just a start and do not think 10,000 searches a month = 10,000 or even 100 new customers. It#s not that simple. Be happy with half a dozen or so a month.

It's not very good that you were banned from Adwords. You must have been doing something that's really not in line with their TOS. All my friends, and myself included have never been banned.

If you have optimized your website and you have some keywords that aren't incredibly competitive, you might be surprised how Google rewards you in a short amount of time. But, this can change and you can never depend on a new ranking in Google staying in one spot for very long.
