301 redirect and SERPS

Hi everyone. I have recently started trying to do the xfactor microniche site method. I was having trouble getting my ads to display on the home page of my blog. To fix this problem, I set up a 301 redirect so that the home page would display my main post. This has solved the problem and now when people arrive at my website they will see my adsense ads, however I was wondering if a 301 redirect would affect my SERP position at all.

Anyone who may know and could give me an answer would help me out significantly.

301 redirect just tells a Google where the new
page is. You've done it the correct way and it
won't affect your SERP positions

  Ok. So should I build backlinks directly to my home page or to the specific post on my blog? Or does it matter? The way it is now, my main site ie. Up At Six HTTP Server Test Page is what is ranking in the serps. So I should keep building backlinks to my main site url or should I build my backlinks to the post?
