Ezinearticles: Rules on Product reviews

I just updated one of my articles to change the anchor links. I noticed that I needed to add more text to it since it was an old article. This was a product review. In my review, I found the product was not that great and I said so in my article.

My resubmission was flagged and Ezine said the following: The problem that we are having is that we are not able to accept any articles that advocate against any individual or group or that contain an insulting, negative, obscene, or degrading tone.

They showed me where they felt I needed to change the text here:

Ex: "...brands are not equal in quality, and this particular (brand name taken out) just did not make the cut."

Please edit your article to remove any content in violation of this, and resubmit for review.

Did I do something wrong by informing people the truth about my test of the product, or should I have lied and said nothing but good things about the product? I thought the purpose of a product review was to give your findings. Maybe there's a way to say the same thing without being so direct, but that's just the way I am.

I need feedback.

I think it comes down to the fact they don't want slander in system. Not saying yours is... but I'm sure they need to make a clear line of what they will and won't except.

The directory would end up being junk if competitors and business rivals were allowed to give "honest" opinions of each other's products.

I think it only makes sense that they do not allow it. If you care so much about telling the truth, rather than promoting aparticular affiliate product, you could always create a WP blog on your own hosting and say what you please.

Actually, I do have my own blog with hosting and my own domain. I just made the blog post into an article as a shorter version of my review and submitted it to EZA.

Thanks for the comment, I love to hear from others so I can have a fresh perspective because my way of thinking isn't always correct. I appreciate all of your constructive criticism.
