I did some research and found a few keyword phrases that is being searched heavily every day on google but has very few competition so I setup an adwords campaign lastnight targeting these keyword phrases. This morning I checked my stats and I had zero impressions and zero clicks but it says my campaign is active. I also search for these keywords on google and see no ads of mine. Am I missing something here?

When I type my keyword phrase into google there is no ppc ads for that keyword phrase but when I try and add that keyword phrase to my PPC campaign it says that my estimated first page bid per click should be $6.10

Shouldn't I be paying way less for that keyword phrase because there is no competition?

You are getting this because there might be others that are jacking up the prices, your landing page, ads could be not so good either, I had this problem before and figured that it had to be my landing page. Make sure everything is 100% relevant, see if that helps if.

If your ad is showing in the last position, or if it's the only ad showing, a click costs the lowest price possible for your ad to be eligible to show. This price depends on the matched keyword's Quality Score: the higher the Quality Score, the less you pay, and vice versa.

It's always a good idea to set the cpc at the max you can afford just to get some clicks. Then progressively bring it back a little each day. Google will reward you if your landing page and your ad and your keywords match well. Look at other top ads too, improvise and keep good records. test.

Some of my ads aren't showing because of a low quality score. They say that my keyword phrase isn't triggering my ad to show. What does that mean? My landing page is very relevant to my keyword phrase i'm using.

Point your cursor over to the magnifying glass beside your keyword; they will give a specific reason..

Since u mentioned yr LP is very relevant and that there are no other advertisers, then it's quite likely that the particular keyword is poor performing, based on other advertisers' results, so Google's trying to "save your ass" by "preventing" you from bidding on it as far as possible... by imposing a higher max cpc...

        Hi Jan,

How do you know it's very relevant? Have you checked the relevance with Google's keyword tool? Or, did you presume it's relevant because it seems relevant to you?

It really doesn't matter how relevant you feel it is. It only matters how relevant it is to Google's algorithm. I would check it first, if you haven't already.

Are you using exact match only? Phrase matching and broad match may generate a lot of irrelevant searches. Have you used a keyword research tool to discover all common searches that may be triggered by your keyword and verified each and every one for relevance?

If your keyword generates irrelevant searches along with relevant searches, then you will earn a poor quality score due to the possibility of irrelevant searches being triggered. This is one possible reason you may see a high minimum bid to trigger your ads. That would also explain why there are no competitor's ads being displayed either.

Without having specific details of your keyword, ad text and landing page we can only make wild guesses.

So if I understand this correctly my landing page is fine but the keyword isn't relevant to the associated ad text. I do have my keyword phrase in my ad text so what can I do to make it relevant?

            Hi Jan,

Some keywords will never be highly relevant simply because they are too broad in their relevance to unrelated topics.

            Example: "apple bargains"

This could mean the actual fruit, mp3 players, down-loadable music, computers, cell phones, record label, candles, perfume and on and on. It's simply too broad of a term.

I suspect that the term you are having trouble with may also be too broad. Sometimes you can use negative match keywords to improve this and sometimes, even that is not practical.

Of course, without seeing the keyword it's just a wild guess.
