Just to share a simple test i made to a site hosted at blogger.com

i posted about 6 post at the site without any promotion done except putting the link in my sig in one forum i join. My link crawled by G bot several times after 2 weeks but my blog still not yet index. After a month, my blog index, 1 post index, 50+ backlink from the sig. In 2-3 days after it index, my whole post (another 5 post) got index with 100+ backlink. The backlink get growing until now about 200+ because of the link i put in the sig.

You see that using sig in your forum profile really can help you in index. My test blog prove that. The way you use it is that you have to join in the conversation (in the forum) several times, not just make one post. That way, you link get crawl very often and increase the chance of the blog index faster.

Im now testing how fast the backlink i put using the same method above but putting link in image and punctuation. will update here....

Thanks for sharing your experiment. I do get forum links through my signature too. The only reservation about forum backlinks is that most forum links are not too valuable. So having tons of them may not be as good as few good ones from authority sites.

I do agree that forum sig's don't pass on much link juice, but Google Bot does spend a ton of time on WF for example because content is constantly updated.

Adding a new site to your sig is one of the fastest ways to get it indexed. I do wonder if the same can be done for profile style links given their relative importance and the difficulty in getting them indexed.
