I wonder how many Adsense clickers really search for "mesothelioma"? Possibly a lot of webmasters and lawyers search that.

IMHO, it's not how much per click, but how many people are searching for the term. One of my best performers is a term that pays less than $1 per click. Think about it.

'purchasing structured settlements' was over $50.00 per click at one point (I think it was $56.00).
Could still be, I haven't checked.

I can tell you from the flip side, the highest-paying Adsense clicks I've had, from $10.50 to $21.00, have been in the car insurance niche.

based on how the CPC is decided, one advertiser might pay $100 while another (with a higher quality score based on the landing page, higher CPM, etc) may pay as much as one tenth as much, so having a set amount is impossible to say. The best you can do is have a list of keywords that generally go for higher CPCs than most. (For Google Adwords and Adsense anyway).

I've heard of higher cost per clicks, almost into the $100s but it was mainly for the bigger companies that can afford to pay that.

Hmm, for all these expensive keywords, it really gets me thinking:

    1) Do the 'big boys' really have NO IDEA what they are doing?

    2) Or is it that they know what's happening, and think that IT'S OK since they have deep pockets and just need the branding

    3) Or that their conversion rates are SO HIGH and their products are priced high enough to justify paying so high for clicks?

Heh ... this oughta be interesting!

Many of my sites are in the tech, legal, and psychiatric care areas..needless to say I've got good performers At the end of the day, remember, give the end user a GOOD visiting experience.

Oh, and to those who think a market is to saturated. Do yourself a favor and FOCUS on longtail keywords in conjunction with assorted backlinking properties.

  • Used to pay $25-30 for mortgage/refinance related terms. Another area of the company did SEM for online education. They were paying $40-50 for some of their terms. It's all about the competion and profit potential.

Is this estimate CPC or actually the price you recently paid? If it's the latter then quality score and landing page relevance affect all these prices. "term life insurance" will be quite a bit more expensive if your landing page and ad have nothing to do with it.

i doubt if anyone here can guess what happens behind the scenes. google has more to it in terms of the steady income flow rather than abberations. so if you get one high click, chances are that many more would be low paying

How do they make a profit spending so much per click? You'd think they would spend that money on SEO so they'd get the traffic for free.
