Facebook Ads worth it in Order to grow a group?

In facebook Marketing, when trying to build a group or fan page for whatever reason, is it an effective method to temporarily buy an advertisement in the facebook platform promoting your page?

Model is as follows:
CREATE FACEBOOK GROUP>PROMOTE WITH ADVERTISEMENTS ON FACEBOOK > ATTRACT CORE GROUP OF MEMBERS>HOPE THAT A VIRAL EFFECT TAKES PLACE AND THE GROUP GROWS EXPONENTIALLY

how likely is that scenario, how much of that is dependent on really catchy, lucky, but well designed viral content?

Really applies to both circumstances, but essentially to grow a group or page for in order to use it for a multitude of monetizing techniques.

The ability to grow these viral groups systematically and consistently is what I am speaking on.

A lot of people have done it before and I definitely wouldn't say it's not possible. However, it does depend on what people are currently liking at the moment (look up google trends) and what your niche is.

Whether or not it's worth putting up ads is dependent on what type of offer you're promoting and how much you're expecting to make if it does indeed go viral.

Personally it does depend on what Niche your in, I just got an email from Ryan Deiss earlier on stating he is releasing Facebook Advertising product this coming week so that might be something that could possibly help!

  So let's say you are building your "Personal Brand" and your are a "Cooking Extraordinaire"... Then run a Facebook Ad with YOUR PICTURE IN THE KITCHEN and underneath a headline that say...

  Now, if you are "Targeting Your Market Correctly" you should be adding 100's of FRIENDS that are in the same DEMOGRAPHICS that you target with your Facebook Ads.
  
  So guess what happens when your TARGET MARKET who has seen your FACE 1000 times... And they see you "friend requesting them?"
  
  They will feel like a celebrity is "friending them up!"
  
  YOU FOLLOW?
  
  Now as for the content?... HELL YEAH YOU WANT TO HAVE THE BEST DAMN CONTENT ON THE NET RELATED TO YOUR TOPIC!
  
  So let's think this through...
  
  1. IF THEY DO NOT CLICK... You run Facebook Ads, TARGETING YOUR TARGET MARKET and get "branded & anchored" as the MAN (or WO-MAN) of your market... ALL FOR FREE!...
  
  2. IF THEY DO CLICK you will pay pennies for a FAN that will most likley become a LOYAL FAN for sure... WHY? Because you will have the BEST DAMN CONTENT On Facebook related to your NICHE!
  
  Hopefully I am making this clear and I apologize for going on and on... BUT Facebook is the SHHH**!
  
  It literally is REVOLUTIONIZING MARKETING AS WE KNOW IT!...
  
  ...And the best part is that NO ONE REALLY KNOWS IT YET which is better for those of us that do!
  
  So start promoting and you will KILL IT!

  P.S. I would rather use Facebook Ads for a "FAN PAGE" instead of a group because it more personal than a group!

Okay thats all a cool idea and all. But how do you create a fan page? I tried but the only thing it would let me create was a group page. There are to many of those as it is.

I wasted a lot of money on Facebook because I had to have such high bids to even get my ad shown so it really depends on who you are targeting and how much they want per click. For my niche, $.50 per click is way too expensive when I'm spending under $.05 per click elsewhere.

@Kevin, there are two options in facebook Ads, either by impression or by clicks. It is just like Google. But they do NOT want any affiliate links there so don't put them there or your ad will be disapproved!

YES Twitter is GREAT! BUT you can NOT build relationships like you can on Facebook NOR can you share Videos, Blog Posts and so much more...

If I had to choose just 1 Platform for my marketing it would be Facebook.. ALL DAY!

Its like a blog (a.k.a Fan Page), email list (fans), membership site (a.k.a Group), Google Adwords (a.k.a Facebook Ads BUT FB is WAY SICKER) and so on...

All you have to do is go to...

1. "Ad & Pages" and then click on "Pages" (in left menu) and then click the "Create A PAge"! Hope this helps!

1. Bid at 1/4 what they suggest!
2. If you do NOT get clicks.. THEN UP "DAILY BUDGET".. NOT CPC!

Absolutely right! BUT you want to do "Per CLick" and this way you get 1000's of impressions for FREE!

Guys, I think of it like this...

After the big Football or Baseball game, they always do a Press Conference... RIGHT?

What is plastered on the wall behind the players?...

Either Coca-Cola or Pepsi or Dunkin Donuts!

Thats the way I think of my Facebook Ads... BRAND RECOGNITION AND BUILDING!

NOW, obvioulsy I know many of you are IM'ers and want to make money... In which case I suggest you...

"CREATE A FREE LINE"

A free video, report, audio... Whatever!

Then you can send all your traffic there, build a list, build reciprication and then in the "free line" put all the affiliate links you want!

And now you can make multiple sales a month or year of each lead AND you are keep costs at a low... WHILE BUILDING YOUR BRAND!

As you guys can see I am all about the "free line" and "personal brand building".

Obviously, this is NOT the 'be all end all" for all... But if your looking to build YOU. Inc I believe this is the way... Especially because FB let's us target so precise its CRAZY!
