Hi,

Query1: Can someone give clear idea about these terms "google dance" "keyword drop" . Is these two terms are same?

For past one year i was building backlinks to my site. In this i am concentrated for two keywords, one is 40K searches per month and another is 200K per month.

Finally i got the results and reached first page for these two keywords.

Actually for these keywords some times my site was showing in first page, some times it will be in 10 pages and some times they are disappearing from more than 50 pages and coming back again after some time it takes few hours, few days and few weeks.

Query2: What is the main reason for this fluctuations and what we call these things?

I am not worried but i need to find the proper solution, so that i can improve my knowledge..

Waiting for the valuable suggestions..

Thanks in advance...

My advice would be to keep building links and keep the content on those pages fresh. Updating them every two weeks at the most.

The "keep building links" suggestion is a world unto itself. The only way to do it well is to be a serious student of SEO.

      Hi IMKing,

The term "Google Dance" was coined back in the day when Google would make a major update to its' search algorithm. When those releases came out there would be major disruption in rankings across the board, hence the term "Google Dance".

Overtime Google has changed their method of updating algorithms so that changes are more gradual and limited to a much smaller group of users. So now they do frequent minor updates along with regularly scheduled data refreshes. Use of the term "Google Dance" has shifted to describe ranking shifts at the individual page level.

It's quite common to see a web page suddenly drop in rankings for a few days or even a few weeks, only to rebound, often at an even higher position. It's gonna happen from time to time so you might as well expect it.

My advice to you would be to concentrate on building backlinks that are good for direct link traffic, so that when your web pages are dancing you don't lose the majority of your traffic. Those type of backlinks can be good for both traffic and ranking and should be part of any marketing campaign.

IMHO, Don't stop building backlinks in a consistent manner.

I've experiment one of my site, used to rank on Google's 1st page (In dancing mode), once I stopped building backlinks, it disappeared till now...

Around 20-30 backlinks a day were made before & stop doing backlinks = no more in Google, but maybe will be back after few months.
