I, too, am working in the micro niche method, and have run into the problem of finding the right keywords. I've built several sites around what looked to be good keywords according to the ClickBump/XFactor method, but only one of these generates any clicks and has only made $6 in about a month of being online. That stinks.

I'm still far from being good at finding keywords, but here's a few tips I'm using.

I stopped using Micro Niche Finder and just do my research right in Google and using Google Adwords Keyword Tool (GAKT).

Initially, I was going for words that showed at least 1,000 exact matches per month in local search, but I've since learned that's not enough. I've got a couple of sites in the top 5 spots of Google for terms showing 1,000 searches a month and they get NO clicks. So I think you have to take the search estimates with a grain of salt. I've moved my new minimum exact local search requirements up to about 5,000 a month. I'll go lower if the other numebrs look good.

Once I find a keyword meeting minum search requirements in GAKT, I head over to to Google search. Once there I check:

Broad results
Exact results
AllInTitle
AllInURL
AllInAnchor

Pretty much the rule of thumb here is the lower the numbers are the better. As a general guide, I look for

Broad < 1,000,000
Exact < 50,000
AllInTitle < 15,000
AllInURL < 15,000
AllInAnchor < 20,000

I also look at the Google results themselves and who is already ranked. I hate it when Google shows shopping results at the top - those images are hard to beat. Home pages are not good either, but single product pages are OK. I don't mind product pages from Amazon, NextTag, Overstiock and other shopping sites. Local terms are easy to rank for, but I've noticed Google sometimes shows a map that takes up teh whole top fold - hard to beat that. If the map shows, I'm out of there.

If there are already some niche sites there, I tend to avoid it because then I'm in competition withont someone else trying to do what I'm doing, and I want to avoid competition.

For example, I found a keyword with:

4,400 exact searches per month
90,000 broad results
230,000 exact results
921 allintitle
834 allinurl
55,500 allinanchor

Now the all in anchor is high, but the other 2 are really, really low. But when I check the results, I see two sites in the top ten using a top level domain (.net and .com). Both are variations of the micro niche method. So I won't go after that one.

Truth be told, I'm still a blind man stumbling around int eh dark when it comes to finding good keywords, but as I keep researching and keep building, I'm discovering what DON'T make good keywords, whcih can be jsut as valuable.
