Google Duplicate Content Redux

I had an interesting conversation with a prospect today who had some really wild ideas regarding Google's alleged "duplicate content penalty."

He had recently fired his writer because the writer had created content that was too close to similar content on the web and, as a result, Google had "delisted his site" by invoking the "Duplicate Content Penalty".

After explaining to him that this was probably not the reason his site had disappeared from Google, and discussing the many reasons why it might have occurred, he said:

"You obviously don't know what you are talking about either. I can't risk hiring you."

Sigh.

I sent him this link. Hopefully he'll read it.

If you, or someone you know, isn't up to speed on the so-called Google Duplicate Content Penalty, maybe you should read it too :-)

    Lisa,
A great deal of people think that myth is true because all they do is listen to what someone else says... They do not bother to test it for themselves...

There is about 100 duplicate threads on this forum about it ..
