I have a site that is simply a home page, and a blog page. Of course there are blog category pages but I don't know if I really count these. Anyways, my question is, will pointing links at just my homepage and blog be enough to help my homepage rank?

Yeah it works fine in my opinion. I have a one page Blogger blog that is currently ranked on the second page of Google for it's given keywords. I have heard that pointing the links to your inner pages work better for link juice so I'm curious to see how other people respond as well...i might slap up a few other pages just to get the juice.

Thanks, I never knew that the inner pages worked any better, I'll try that and see how it works for me.

I have a couple of mini sites, which are all consist of a home page, contact me page and privacy policy (They are all in a WP platform). I've been only promoting home pages and they both rank on the 1st page. That's right, i build backlinks in anchor texts pointing at home pages only. So your understanding is right.

If you want your home page to rank high on search engines then you need to build links on that page only.

You just should build link on the page You want to rank well in google for a certain keywords. So just do link building for that specified page, whether It's home page or inner page

Having a single page is fine....see the 1 page site in my sig and check out the keyword rankings I post on the page itself.

Having other pages that are keyword focused is good too but not completely necessary as some people claim.
