I have tried Statsjunky and Clickable. The latter is far superior for PPC management.

But its still not perfect.

Are there any other solutions out there, that are, preferrably, cheaper?

I am not sure that would exist as many calls are in the moment and are variable as such, this variable could be placed into a range but the ending outcome would be still black and white, also a perfect automated system that works combined with the word cheap does not sound like some thing that will happen but may be wrong.

You could get a programmer to work some options with the exported csv file in the adwords editor, that suit what it is you want done as an option.

What exactly do these tools do?

To me, automated management would be software that does your keyword research, creates and tests ads. The testing of ads is the most important thing and there's no software in the world that does this. All software tools out there as far as I know only manage bids. I guess you could have one where you preload different ads but you still have to come up with them. Best to spend the time to do this yourself and do it right. Or hire someone. May not be cheaper but a good manager will remove you from those tasks - that is your goal right? - and you'll be better off than software.

I'm looking for this kind of software too.

Not fully automated but at least I can create bunch of ads and rotate them.

The one I found is marinasoftware.com, but I'm still playing around with it and it's pricey.
