Wow I just logged in to adsense to get my publisher code for my new website and saw that i had made $5.40 since mid Jan.

I was so excited. The website in question is VERY scary it was my first one (only up to second now, but know alot more), very basic. they probably clicked the ads to get away lmao
But yay never thought i would see that when i logged in tonight if ever LOL

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I remember when I first started getting adsense clicks it was very exciting. Be sure to keep up the good work and also try out diferent ad placements and color. This will keepthings new and also see what makes people click the most.

Personally I've seen alot of people turn the ads into the same color as their site with no border around it and pout them on the inside like so

    blah blah blah blah blah
ADS ADS ADs blah blah blah
ADS ADS ADS blah blah blah
ADS ADS ADS blah blah blah
blah blah blah blah blah blah

I did a tes with it and it really does seem to work rather well. The ads are in the middle of your writing and since google automatically makes the ads match your content people are much more likely to click on them.

again congratulations and keep up the great work!

      Thanks for the replies

I think it adds to the motivation and head space a lot as well. Lots to think about, I will try the colour changing in the next few days and blend it a bit. I just worked out what channels were and think i have it set up right now.

Thanks again Off to bed for happy dreams now. lol

Good stuff. I remember the first time I made $0.50 on Adsense in a day. My immediate thought was "If I can make $0.50 a day, I can make $50 a day, I just have to multiple the scale x 100". That's still how I like to think of it.

That's the thing. When starting out in internet marketing, it's not the amount, it's the realization that you can actually make money online. It's a great feeling, and to be honest, that never really goes away.

Obviously, you'll need that figure to really crank up in time. Boy Scouts probably earn more washing one car but that's not the point I guess. Keep going, onwards and upwards and congrats on your initial earnings. Yo've found your starting point, now plough on.

Adsense is a numbers game. Meaning the more traffic you get, the higher the chances are to get more adsense clicks. So expose your site either by seo or other methods and get more traffic.

Anyways, it's not like i'm good at adsense. I probably made $300 over the course of a year, which is okay but not good enough. Could scale it up but personally i prefer affiliate marketing.

Well, that's great, but remember that the payment threshold is $100 - so still a long way, depending what will you do with that little success, before you can actually say that yuou have made money with Adsense

actually i never did anything to get banned. no idea as to why it happened but i didn't feel it worth contesting it from posts on google forums saying it won't get reinstated. all i was saying is don't get too excited as from my experience you may not get a dime from it... but good luck with it anyway

    Thanks everyone
It has been a bumpy week but I am definately making headway had 2 more clicks and now have 6.68, baby step and still exciting
The main thing is staying focused right now.
@clickbump Thanks I have had a quick peek at your threads lately and am hoping to go back next week when i have some more time and read a few properly, Saw some good stuff in there. But of course haven't taken it in yet

@mbphoenix Honestly I have done nothing special and didn't change anything just very minor seo and a couple of backlinks.

@AlexNash sorry i think the clicks I got just sort of "fell" into my lap, my first ever site and it is not very pretty.

Firstly, congratulations on your first small success with Adsense. Keep at it and you will become successful, and if you so choose, financially independent with the Adsense program all by itself (though I recommend diversifying after a while to be safe).

In my experience, sites which aren't very pretty (and are basic) generally perform better with Adsense than those that are immensly visually appealing and full of complexity.

When you have a site that looks like the wrong end of a dog, the most appealing thing on that page suddenly becomes the ads, and thus therein lies the secret behind getting a lot of clicks.

Having said that, I wouldn't intentionally design a site to look awful, because Google will probably be able to tell if you're doing it to manipulate your visitor into clicking Adsense ads for reasons other than a sheer interest in the ad itself (and ad clicks which don't convert into a reasonable number of conversions will ultimatley attract smart-pricing, which is something to bear in mind).

I use a slightly "niceified" version of XFactors layout and try to make my sites look just nice enough to pass a Google inspection and decrease the bounce rate amongst people who know thin spammy type sites when they see one, whilst making the advertisements as prominent as possible, to ensure they're seen by *everyone* who visits, without doing anything that Google might remotely consider encouragement to click on said ads.
