Can spyfu be trusted?

I just found a really nice keyword and want to create a adsense site about this keyword.

However when I check on spyfu to see if there is enough advertisers for this keyword it says there is only two advertisers.

Then I do a check in google and I see over 8 ads on google for the exact same keyword in the united stats.

Is this a go or no go?

    I find spyfu to be a decent tool...but it's just an estimate. I find that it's always off on the SEO rankings part, but fairly accurate in terms of number of number of clicks and adwords spend.

      <quote>
      number of number of clicks and adwords spend

      How in the world did you verify its accuracy in this area, you must test against an actual campaign that you have access to.
      I have tested spyfu and keywordspy...and both of them are very off in determining the actual data...especially the spend... way off... and I tested against 7 different sites that I manage for other folks...
      Matter of fact the only thing they can do about spend and cost per click is SWAG (stupid wild assed guess) since they flat do not have access to that info. They simply make an educated guess based on how much you show up.... they have no idea that you are getting 80 cent clicks when others are paying 2 bucks... so they have wildly varying prices that they list based on their best guess..

      Has anyone else compared say a dozen accounts to what these guys claim and what is really inside the account?

      Here is a specific live example: estimate daily spend = 33.00 actual spend for last 7 months = never over 10 bucks a day... that is a worthless value when off by 300% and I have a ton of other examples for anyone wanting more detail. I do this stuff every day for fun...never make a dime... retired.... and having fun only.

    I had a similar issue.
    Spyfu said either 1 or No advertisers (can't remember) yet when I searched on Google there were 4-5 ads with exact matches for the keyword.

    No tool is 100% accurate IMO and thus can't be trusted 100% either.

    None of these tools are absolutely accurate. Even Google's Keyword Tool is off, sometimes by tens of thousands. The tools must get the data from the source, which is the search engines. If the search engines can't or won't tell you the correct figures (or the truth), how the hell can the tools be accurate. They are all just a rough guide. The only way to know for sure is to run an Adsense test, or what ever they have for the other engines.

      Not only that, but each tool specializes in certain areas. For example Spyfu is basically useless in regard to real estate while keywordspy is terriffic... it is virtually impossible to track all keywords... can you imagine how many times the tool has to query google to see the ppc ads on a cool million keywords... and that is how they do it ... one keyword at a time... I wonder why google does not try to catch them and ban them. .I am sure they do ban them a lot... but they just keep finding new ips...
