Short Meta Description Warning?

I was perusing through Google's webmaster tools, and noticed that under HTML suggestions, they say that my Meta Descriptions are too short.
Anyone ever notice this? Anyone ever determine what is considered too short, or too long?
For reference most of my meta descriptions are in the 150-250 character range.
I'm wondering if google is wanting more of a short paragraph (300-600 character) for creating better search result displays....
Thoughts?
